Hi guys! I hope you find this tips helpful also let me know If there's anything else you would consider! and if you want to know how I started as illustrator, this is the video ruclips.net/video/lGxq-m05F2A/видео.html
Tips: - Online presence - Website - Curate your work - Build your image - Keep it up - Optimize your work - Make it as easy to navigate as possible - Get Contacted( Make yourself easily found) - Secure your work Invest in some time and money to make a good portfolio Thanks Asia for sharing such wonderful tips to learn from 😊
I’m actually binge watching all of your videos right now while I try to look after my little one at home. You’re such an inspiration for me 🥰🥰🥰and I’m really hoping I can dip into the world of illustration... but I don’t have any qualifications so starting from zero 😥
I can tell you as someone who started from scratch myself and knowing nothing , YOU CAN DO IT! I still struggle with imposter syndrome but that comes with a lot of things in life comparing yourself to other people. I recommend looking up New Masters Academy, it’s a full online course that you can take anytime with no pressure of a time limit. Start with the foundation classes and I’m telling you foundation itself is like a whole new world and pretty gives you the ability to draw almost anything! I hope you become successful someday in your journey! As a fellow art lover 👍
Hi Asia. Since you answer people’s comments I’d like to share a issue I’m so confused about. I’m a self taught artist and I can do floral, botanical, animal, birds, architectural as well as daily solutions illustration. I just don’t know what to do. I know you have said stick to one but I really like doing all of them.
The manner you explain processes makes it very understandable. I love your gold trim mug and wonder if you can tell me if you make these or where I may go to create? Thank You
Cute puppy, thanks for the information. What should I do if I have different art concepts. I have artist art, bdsm art, and surrealism art, so I am kind of confused about how to approach, showcasing them to an audience. Should create sub categories or just create different genre of arts and illustrations.
Dear Asia, what's is your advice on define style? I have a big problem with this because I had to reinvent myself due to illness and now I am in the beginning stages of illustration. It seems like a I have 2 styles and I don't know how to pick just one because I'm still exploring. Thank you in advance. I don't want to get clients for projects, I only want to sell products with my art. I physically can't have a work load like many of you. Sorry for the long question. 🙏🏻 Thanks
Hi 👋 I think that what you are experiencing is completely normal. I wouldn’t make any decision now, and just let it flow, meaning if you have 2 or 3 styles that’s fine, explore more, with time naturally you will incline to one in particular, that will also evolve. Maybe there’s a way to combine them together, maybe out of these two this one yours will emerge:) It’s always an exploration and practice before something unique happens! All the very best 🤗
@@AsiaOrlando I have the same problem. I find myself creating illustrations of different styles. I get frustrated with myself. It's like my brain hasn't made up its mind.
Hi Asia, your work is very beautiful and thanks for sharing your practical advice . I was wondering what resolution do you recommend to upload images of work to an portolio for the security reasons you mentioned ?
I would say low, but good enough for screens I do 72dpi/96 in some cases and a tiny bit bigger than Instagram. Instagram via web browser it’s a good example ✌️ but it all depends on your portfolio design
Hi! I love your work (I've been following you for a while and didn't realize you had a RUclips channel, YAY!) Can I ask, what is the theme that you are using on Squarespace? I love the way that you have your website organized and was hoping I could do something similar! (:
Hi! Asia I love your work! it's breath taking and it gives me a really calming feeling with the colors you choose so I really enjoy admiring it. I was really interested in you advice of how to secure your work and I was wondering if you could be a little more specific about the resolution for posting on social media like instagram or for your website to protect your work as an Artist, thanks :)
Hi 👋 when you post in social media, with the exception of Twitter I believe, all your images will be automatically downgraded to web resolution. So even if you post 300 dpi, it’s will be converted. What you don’t want to do is to upload a really poor resolution image, or the quality downgrade will be noticeable 👍🏼 hope it helps
I’ve actually been reworking my portfolio and brand overall, I know you said not to mix styles, but I want to show my illustration and graphic design work as I do both. I usually kept them as two separate pages (design and illustration tabs), but now I’m a bit worried given what you said.
Hi! how are you ... I think it should be ok, I mean you have them both in separate tabs, and can actually work to your favor as a complement to each other, so I wouldn't worry :)
Hi Asia and thanks for a great video! I'm also using Squarespace and loving it! What template of theirs are you using? I want to update my website soon and I like the grid you have on your homepage :) Have a great day!
Hi 👋 the template I’m using is a custom css made and for the old version I don’t think is available now, but I saw something similar in their web the other day :)
That's very useful information Asia!! I'm glad you did a video about this! So to lower the quality of your image, you change it in photoshop to 72dpi ?
Hi 👋 thank you so much! I open my images in photoshop under a low res file setup (like in the video) then export them back with low resolution or web resolution and bit rate :) hope it helps :)
Thank you so much for your professional advice. This is very helpful and also very timely for me. I am just going through different websites for making up my portfolio. You are really an inspiration. I have one question - is it sustainable to invest in website for beginners too, with less experience of working with clients. I have been working with a few clients but i am still on my learning curve, specially with digital illustrations( switched in 2020 only from traditional) and i love using Procreate. I want to keep improving myself and my art but in meantime is it good for me to showcase the work, as i think that they aren't the perfect works yet.
Hi 👋 I would say it totally depends on the budget, but if you want to make illustration your career, then yes investing in a website/portfolio, investing in yourself as an artist is very very important. Having a professional portfolio can be now a days only 10 bucks a month. Worth the investment. Hope it helps

Great tips! Thank you so much. I am working on building my portfolio - the info you provided helps :) I have a question -how low/ what resolution should I save my images to display on my website?
I would say the lowest resolution possible that do not make them imposible to see or pixelated 72dpi should work for web.
@@AsiaOrlando Sounds good, will do that.
Thank you for your response!
Do you use adobe illustrator? Btw i just loveee yourr work
Hi 👋 thank you so much 😊 no, I rarely use illustrator, and for something else but not my artwork
