oh my god, there is so much to learn about everything! Like I say to my son, knowing stuff is cool, but LEARNING stuff is AMAZING! There's no end and it excites me every day I get to try something new.

Love what you are doing, thank you for sharing. Made a 12 String bridge from aluminum - took a long time but works great. Sound is better than the original bridge.

This is a great idea! I made a 3d model of a roller bridge that could adjust spacing but never really had the time to manufacture or make one, but this is also a really cool solution

I feel like all of Tim's guitars are either super modern styled or the 1960's soviet style. Love them. Someday I might have to make a funny lookin' guitar!
Very astute. I love the stye of the oddballs and imports from the early days of the instruments, before Fender and Gibson homogenized the market, but I'm trying to make them with a modern edge and practices - eco-consciously.

Nice!! I have love hate relationship with the bridge on my Violin Bass. But I can see where it is necessary on some basses. Still a great tutorial!!
well put but sometimes it's just the "right" bridge for the bass. I have added little set screws to them in the past to keep them from moving around, lightly tapped in to the body.
this reminds me diy pickup except magnets sideways on touching the bolts

Yes! Or carving deeper in to the fret wire on the edges. These are "blanks" to be finished to fit the guitar.

neat. i was looking at the chinesium versions of these on amazon the other day - i was looking for ideas for retro style bridges (sometimes i just stare at pictures of guitar parts.. its my asmr).

Doesn't this style of guitar have inntonation problems? I'd like to make one to save money on a guitar build but I also have to take into account the lack of adjustable intonation. Thoughts?
They are not as easy/accurate to intonate as a modern style fully articulated bridge, but I was easily able to get the two basses I built well intonated.

A buddy of mine has just replaced the nut on his guitar with a brass one and he swears he can hear a difference, I've been wondering what a guitar would sound like with a glass or stone nut 🤔
Stone sounds interesting. I've made nuts from brass and aluminum. I like using metal and heavy wood like ebony. I don't use bone because that's kinda gross :)
@@timsway I've heard bone is nasty to work with and so is deer antler, I follow some knife makers here on YT and both those things are traditional handle materials.

Tim, please stop with the DIY. If you are going to continue to do luthier videos, get it right and actually learn about correct practices in the luthier realm. Please step up your knowledge and skills. Or just make furniture. You keep popping up in my luthier que and your crude final products are good practices and kind of ugly.
