- If your Internet connection freezes for everyone at home whenever you upload large files, you need to limit your upload speed.
In this video I show you how to do this in Chrome, without the need for plugins or any additional software.

One of the most useful video ever seen. Thanks Dave!
Golden video. Solved my issue of RUclips uploads killing my browsing.
Thanks, bro, very helpful now I solved the problem that I've been looking for a long time. keep it up!
This was super helpful! Thanks man!
Thank you! Perfect explanation.
Thank you so much, this is certainly going to be a big help. I've had wait days for a right opening to do an upload, now I can use this. : ) Thanks again, benevolent wishes all around to you and yours. : )
Awesome will try it! Thanks for making this video!
Really gret tip you gave there, bud! Awesome vid.
Thank you! Very good tutorial.
Thank you so very much. That was REALLY helpful!!!
This worked for me, cheers!
For some reason this is not working for me. I set up a custom download profile through chrome dev options to download files at 100kb/s. I ensured that it was enabled, but I'm still downloading files at full speed. I've tried restarting Chrome, but to no avail.
I use the Vivaldi browser, which is based on chrome engine, so following this helped me with that. Many thanks!
ah that was perfect thank you! i was thinking i would have to buy something to do it. this helps me so much!!!!
Thanks. Very Helpful!!!
This was exactly what I needed and to the point. I have a 13GB video to upload and really didn't want to get in the way of my son from streaming at the same time. Cheers Dave!
rip lol
absolute godsend
You are awesome; thank you alot
Very helpful
is there a way I can save this setting as my default when chrome loads ?
Looks like they removed the "online / offline" options you show at 2:50 ☹
EDIT: nevermind, I found it. Just click the arrow next to "no throttling" and you can click "add" under the "custom" option.
can you limit live streams?
Great 😃
what does offline and online look like? I have no idea what your talking about when you say "at the end of the bar you should see offline and/or online."
im on a 10gb fiber connection connected to 10gb NIC and youtube is limiting my upload to 15 megabits /second
my problem is different i got 1gbps speed but on youtube upload max limit i am getting is 250mbps why is that when my upload speed and down speed is 900mbps
Helpful video! However I think your conversions are wrong - your speedtest is measured in Mbps not MB/s.
5.73Mbps is 0.71625 MB/s or 716.25 kB/s - this is the real number Google Chrome should be limiting.
❤
hm i have 1 mb upload
Dave, thanks for posting this video. This has helped solve a problem where our entire home internet connectivity was getting killed during a daily RUclips upload of a video for students during lockdown. Throttled back to 75% et voilà: family peace again. This is so important that I think this behaviour should be made the default upload settings for all browsers (and iCloud Photos upload too). Is there any way to make upload throttling a default in Chrome?
what if i want to save the limit??
I need gigabit
But thenk you👍🏼
Excellent. It was way too fast for me to just watch & execute. With perhaps 6 breaks, I got just what I wanted. That's great when a "kid" can take an old man, and make it possible for him to do what was needed. Thanks David!
thanks :-0
Basically a good video but still I couldn't listen to you. Sorry for that but you sound very monotonous. Like I said, the video is still helpful though.
