Thank you for these tips. I especially appreciate the tutorial on hanging sleeves. I have always made mine too flat and the rod shows on the top. But best of all, THANK YOU for saying you prewash. So many people tell me that it's not necessary, but I grew up sewing in the 60's and 70's when prewashing was standard practice. I still prewash for the same reason I still use two spaces between sentences. Old School = My School. 🙂
Let me try this again-my hand slipped. This was so informative and interesting to me. I vote for this to be a regular feature on your video schedule! I learned a lot just in those few minutes.
Hi Julianne - I just finished a lap-sized quilt and used your hanging sleeve method for the first time. I love 💗💗💗 how the quilt hangs so evenly and smoothly! Although I am not fan of the hand stitching, it is just part of the process to achieve beautiful results. Thank you for sharing!
The only thing I do different is after stitching your pleat , I stitch the parallel raw edges wrong sides together. After pressing that seam open and placing it against the quilt backing... now the rods/poles won't get caught up on the seam.😊
Outstanding show today! Such a wealth of terrific info. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Where do I find your blog? Thanks in advance, Julianne. 😽
Great info. Thanks for sharing. This may be a crazy question but on the washing/drying instructions magnet it says don’t use a dryer sheet. I’m not quite sure why. Can you explain please?
Dryer sheets are coated with a slick substance infused with fabric softeners and fragrances. The heat of the dryer melts the substance and allows it to spread to the other items in the dryer. For heirloom's sake, I wouldn't want that on my quilt! :)
Very informative, thank you! I do have a question, Would you recommend using a “ color grabber “ for those who don’t prewash their fabrics? Thank you in advance.
Thank you for sharing the hanging sleeve on the back with the added pleat in it. You are so wise, thank you.
What a great idea for hanging a quilt with the curtain rod 😊
Thanks you so much Julianne. This was very informative and incredibly useful.
That is a very helpful hint. Thank you for sharing - I will try this next time I'm choosing fabric for a quilt. 🙂

I do have a question,

Thank you in advance.
I always use Color Catchers - even in my clothing laundry! It doesn't always get all of the dye but it's better than nothing. :)
