Sarlamkai or Solakia folk dance from Mizoram, originating from Pawi and Mara Mizo communities
Sarlamkai/Solakia : This is an impressive dance originating from the Pawi and Mara communities in the southern part of Mizoram. This dance is known as 'Sarlamkai' whereas the Lushais referred to it as 'Rallu Lam'. In older days when the different tribes were constantly at war with each other, a ceremony to deride the vanquished beheaded skull of the enemy was usually held by the victor. This ceremony is performed to ensure that the vanquished soul remains a slave to the victor even when the latter dies.
The derision ceremony usually lasts for 5 (five) days. The first 2 (two) days is spent in merry-making, singing alongside drinks and a non-vegetarian feast. On the third day a pig is slaughtered and the victor paints his whole body with the animal's blood, which he only washes off on the evening of the fourth day or on the morning of the fifth day. During this 5 (five) day period, the victor is not to sleep with any women. Source - Mizoram.nic.in

Love from Rajasthan
I'm proud of my heritage 😇God bless Zo national
The name of this dance is Sarlamkai not Solakia. Solakia is another dance, the steps, the moves are different with Sarlamkai dance, but so many similarity in these two dances.
Lots of love and Really enjoy to watch your performance guys.....really well done ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brother tell me the significance of solakai dance
@@alberthaokip4357 It’s actually called and spelled “Sawlâkia”. It originates from the idea of “Sawh” in Mara culture. A type of contagious curse and illness that you get from committing certain actions or even being killed. Some animals naturally have “Sawh”. Sawlâkia was performed to get rid of “Sawh”, hence the name “Saw lâ kia”.
It means “to transcend into the dance of Sawh”
Edit: If you look up “Sawlâkia” you’ll see a bunch of videos of Mara people performing this dance.

@@LalchhuanMawii-u9dWrong. Sawlâkia is apart of Mara culture and the concept of “Sawh” has been involved in Mara culture for a long time. I don’t know what’s Lai people’s origins of “Sarlamkai” is but “Sawlâkia” has legitimate origins and is integrated into Mara culture.
