These "How To" video's are AWESOME. Excellent job Billy. As a sprint car racer for the past 38 years, I learnt all this stuff the hard way (like so many others). The information you are sharing in these video's is going to help a lot of people gain the experience necessary to fast track their racing education. You're a wonderful ambassador for this great sport.
Enjoy your videos! I was racing in the late 80's through 90's. Ran with Dan at times! Did mine every Monday. I ran a Gaerte. At the time they were $30k. We didn't have those nice remote oil filter blocks. Ours were at the firewall behind the 30 lb. weight per side we had to carry running aluminum blocks! That bastard was always in the way! The staple oil in my day was Pennzoil 50wt at 13 quarts. I was fortunate to have an oil company as a sponsor!
Aww yeah I remember the bolt on weight if you had an aluminum black. At that time my dad’s car had the oil tank mounted on the left side by the pitman arm/ brake pedal. Good ol days
Really like your channel...the variety is great...I have learned alot...I race flat track motorcycles...I will turn 70 in a few days..I hope my wife Rachel and I (randy) can come over your way this summer..we live in New Concord Ohio...near Zanesville.....
My best explanation is this. The ends of the pan are billet aluminum so that’s the strongest place for the drain plug and the scavenge line’s. Also in the past we had the lines and the drain plug on the side of the pan. we had a fair amount of cracked pans due to the location and lack of strength and or the abuse of mud hitting it.

Thx Billy for the video didn’t know dry sumps held that much oil 👍✌️
I love maintaining sprint car ! I miss mine sprint car 410 I race Lincoln speed way and William Grove pa 1988 I hope to meet you someday
Can you get away with one motor for the year??🇺🇸🏁
It would need to be refreshed at the 15-20 race mark.
WHY is the pan drain plug at the highest part of the pan floor at the front?? Not clever
Barely anything in the pan. Everything is in the sump can and filter.
