  • In this video I will show you how to change the oil in a sprint car and cover all the details related to a sprint car oil change and filter inspection. In the video I state that we change oil every 3 races, that will vary depending on oil brands and recommendation's from the engine builder. If your changing oil in a 305 race saver I would contact the oil pan manufacturer for proper oil capacity. Oil , filter and oil filter cutter available at RUPW . Please contact us with any and all questions.

    These "How To" video's are AWESOME. Excellent job Billy. As a sprint car racer for the past 38 years, I learnt all this stuff the hard way (like so many others). The information you are sharing in these video's is going to help a lot of people gain the experience necessary to fast track their racing education. You're a wonderful ambassador for this great sport.

    Enjoy your videos! I was racing in the late 80's through 90's. Ran with Dan at times! Did mine every Monday. I ran a Gaerte. At the time they were $30k. We didn't have those nice remote oil filter blocks. Ours were at the firewall behind the 30 lb. weight per side we had to carry running aluminum blocks! That bastard was always in the way! The staple oil in my day was Pennzoil 50wt at 13 quarts. I was fortunate to have an oil company as a sponsor!

      Aww yeah I remember the bolt on weight if you had an aluminum black. At that time my dad’s car had the oil tank mounted on the left side by the pitman arm/ brake pedal. Good ol days

    WHY is the pan drain plug at the highest part of the pan floor at the front?? Not clever

    • @Davewilliamson5w
      @Davewilliamson5w 2 года назад

      Barely anything in the pan. Everything is in the sump can and filter.

      My best explanation is this. The ends of the pan are billet aluminum so that’s the strongest place for the drain plug and the scavenge line’s. Also in the past we had the lines and the drain plug on the side of the pan. we had a fair amount of cracked pans due to the location and lack of strength and or the abuse of mud hitting it.
