    Awesome catch, the great Swede, shame she's not got a v8 lump under the bonnet. Nevertheless well done it finding that one. Big like from me

      I have a video of a V8 on my channel from the container terminal, it's not great but you can hear the engine purring ha ha

      Dave Howe Checked it out, it sounds fantastic. Even the 6 cylinder in these sounds decent when pushed a little.

    Every time gerber's trash removal has ez pack refuse trucks at the base in Cockeysville so my favorite ez pack front loader is # 188 and the roll off truck # 15 so if you like to make a video of gerber's so is in Cockeysville md so tell my best truck drivers at all the time so I miss them .

    Whoa how awesome is this truck! Firstly a Scania up there? This one's definitely an older machine looking at the older cab, old ribbed body speaks for itself too. Almost never see these Goliaths in operation, so this was very much enjoyed. I like the chain lift system too; something else I haven't seen much of. Mmm something I love about a Scania is that low rumble you get out of the engine at idle and take-off.

      MitchellM15 The awesome-est. Well, almost. Their Scania roll off is even cooler. But that'll be posted later. Scania attempted to break into the North American market in the mid 80s with a focus on the Northeastern US where trucks run at heavier weights similar to Scania's native Europe. Acceptance wasn't widespread and Scania gave the effort up in 1992. I couldn't believe they had a Goliath on demolition duty but it looks like it holds its own. Chains are great, but much more fun with a faster packer. They do sound amazing, and this one doesn't even have the V8.

    Is it "normal" for the sides to be bulged outwards like that? Is it a normal symptom of the age of the truck or is it a sign the truck had an exceptionally hard life?

    Way too heavy a body to have on that midsize truck

    i also believe they have a scania roll off like this I would see it once in awhile at the landfill

      Oh man do they ever! I had high expectations for that roll off before I ever saw it in person and it still dropped my jaw. Its turn in the spotlight will come shortly.

      @georgewuzheer  9 лет назад +1

      That's about as new as they get here. Sales ended in 92.

      georgewuzheer hm.. and we complain if they are 10years old..

    • @georgewuzheer
      @georgewuzheer  9 лет назад +1

      ***** Haha I'm sure no one complains about driving these Scanias no matter the age. AAC Builders Carting's trucks have power sunroof, power windows, and I'm sure the fully synchronized transmission makes things easier for the drivers.

    • @Jorgen87
      @Jorgen87 9 лет назад

      georgewuzheer the newer scania has a gear-model named "opicgear", its like automatic gearing, and about the power windows has been here since middle 90's. You should check YT after scania garbage trucks elsewhere. than you will see the differences..

    • @georgewuzheer
      @georgewuzheer  9 лет назад +2

      ***** Oh I'm certainly aware of the differences. Just to compare, it took until this year for the first American refuse duty chassis to come equipped with power windows from the factory, that honor going to the new Mack LR. Our manual gearboxes are still unsynchronized (but that's due to overwhelming customer preference). Recently an automated manual became an option in the Mack as well, in place of the usual Allison automatic. We've had automated manuals replacing manual as opposed to automatic transmissions in other classes of truck use of longer yet: over the road, various vocational (dump trucks, mixers, etc). In any case this small batch of Scanias which made it over the Atlantic fascinates me, hope to bring you more video of them soon.

    Wow that was a surprise! Didn't know there were any Scania garbage trucks in the US. Really like all the chains in the hopper area. Honestly, I thought you were filming from another country when I saw the thumbnail lol Neat find George!

    • @georgewuzheer
      @georgewuzheer  9 лет назад +1

      ***** There are a few. Unfortunately they didn't exactly gain widespread acceptance.

      georgewuzheer So since this guy's truck is for sale, did he sell out or did he get a new truck/trucks?

    • @georgewuzheer
      @georgewuzheer  9 лет назад +1

      Didn't sell out. Still going strong. I kept seeing their R Model/2RII over and over again. So it either really gets around or they have more than one.
