This was good, but not great..Simon kept raving about it and comparing her to other performances that night. There were several that surpassed her that night.
I think it was the effortless way that she handled this alternate arrangement. She slayed it as live performances go. Song seems easy because it's an abridged version but definitely not the easiest to song (and I know because it's my go-to live performance and it is a butt kicker to begin to emulate Chaka Khan's intensity). The Kelly Price arrangement is also challenging as is any creative version of this million-dollar song. Naturally, I enjoyed it immensely...not so much when watching live (I didn't get the rave review), but when I watch it back now, I realize how deceptively difficult this was to pull off.
