What an embarrassment! Swiatek did her usual imitation of a statue - standing there stiff, looking at the ball fly past her like a beaten goalkeeper. She must've been exhausted, or injured, or something. Where was her vaunted athleticism and movement ability? Totally outplayed by a player who demonstrated the superiority of flat hitting over top spin hitting. Iga can't change gears. She needs more variety in her game - flat shots, lobs, drop shots, slices, etc. She's become too easy to read. I'm an Iga fan, but Noskova was brilliant today! congrats to her. Well done!

There's a touch of Lindsay Davenport about Noskova. Just in the way she hasn't got the fastest sprint speed but she has such high class racket head control that she manages to do great things with the ball when stretched, so she doesn't seem that slow. Also, just very clean and aggressive hitting from the front foot, and ability to position herself to open up the court, again like Lindsay.
Swiatek is nothing more than a top five player on anything other than red clay because when big hitters really fight fire with fire against her, you see her technical problems on faster surfaces. Her strokes are better designed for clay.

Impressive groundstrokes and serving by Noskova. Very much tuned in and focused. Well-deserved win. On the other hand, Iga's poor serving and bad decisions on the court- she seemed to be distracted and not herself today. I wonder if that's anything to do with the knee problem. If yr game is not on peak at the AO, and yr fitness not peak, the AO finds U out, Ones, IGA, Raducanu, Sakarri, all just 2%/3% off, and out! (kinda stomping fast like an aggressive little child to the ball, seems like she is trying to distract the opponents all the time but idk) Iga was playing well till the second set then her mentality kinda gave up, you could see her doing many mistakes...reminds me of Sabalenka when its important and her UE start hitting again

Congratulations! Very good match of Linda Noskova. What a brilliant serving, good returns and gritty moments in the most difficult games, while Iga tried to win like many times before, but in vain, this time. Both played well, but Linda prevailed in the most decisive moments. For Iga - a well deserved rest after all those 20 tiring matches. Still, I remember Iga against other excellent servers: Sabalenka, Gauff, Pliskova, Garcia, Jabeur. Iga had better returns against them - not now against Linda. She was able to significantly change the quality of their serves by making her opponents physically and mentally tired by her topspin strokes, by involving them in longer rallies; not surprisingly, their game was not efficient enough. It was a very good game tactics used by Iga then. Unfortunately, it failed against Linda. Iga rushed her strokes too much, erring too easily and oftener than usual (the same thing happened in her match against Collins). On the local slower surface her topspin strokes looked sometimes a routine daily business like. Additionally, they were too often well anticipated by Linda. Iga´s serving games were less effective, when it was most necessary, there were too few ases (!!!), especially in the most important moments of the second and third set. Also her volley game still needs improvement.

That forehand technique from Iga needs some work, it goes off too easily, she should be willing to change her grip a little and have a looser arm, she doesn't have a good contact point a lot of the time.

Noskova has a strong physical build, something like Ostapenko and she seems to be hitting hard. Swiatek is kind of the same, this is why she is able to win so many times. She is not a fragile build anymore. It was a battle of similar style and build here and Noskova was stronger.

It's not about physical build. Linda has a certain calm about her, she is not overly emotional player as many others and even being set down doesn't visibly rattle her and she keeps fighting back. Iga was a bit stunned by those break points and you could see her game falling apart at the end. I think tennis is head game more than anything.

This is what Swiatek normally does and is able to win 6-0 or 6-1 in straight sets. Swiatek wasn't able to keep up against Noskova. There is a reason why Serena Williams has won 23 grand slams and look at her body, basically a 'man'...fighting against woman 🤣

Kvitova, Pliskova ... ends, Vondrousova, Muchova, Krejcikova, Bouzkova, Siniakova are now at the top and Noskova, Brenda Freuhvirt ... are other Czechs who are climbing up. Noskova has the greatest potential. This was no so big surprise. I knew Linda would win , but Swiatek is number one so I didn't predict any bet....Linda is really the biggest talent , she plays like Petra Kvitova , pressure tennis with great serve. And she is strong mentally. I was surprised that she cried after the match, I've never seen her do that before.I guess it was already tough for her mentally. Linda has the best Czech coaches now..., she'll go up.
Next round she have Svitolina, and here it will be seen if Linda will keep the attention throughout the tournament, if she's ready for GS she sometimes won too. it will be hard to focus on the next match after winning the number one.

Kompromitacja. Kolejny mecz, w którym Iga słabo korzysta z wolnej przestrzeni kortu. Głupio traci ważne punkty odbijając do przeciwniczki zamiast grać w wolne pole będąc bliżej siatki.
