The bros in Nine's universe suffered when the egg council attacked
they kidnapped Mario and planned to torture him and make him become like Rusty rose,
While luigi was horrifed but something inside him snapped and he was sick of being a coward and he decided to go off and find him that's when he met nine. He knew about him when Sonic was around so he hired him to help him come for his rescue
