When I was in high school basketball, out coach didn't start the season drilling fundamentals, mechanics, plays/concepts, none of that. He started the season for the first week or two drilling into each of us that if we wanted to be champions we had to be disciplined. We knew the expectations and knew the consequences of failed expectations. We grew to eventually holding each other accountable, our families held us accountable, and our coach held us accountable. That's the true foundation of a champion... Discipline and Accountability. The other parts of the game flow out of those two principles.
One of the best coaches and teachers the game of basketball has ever seen.
RIP Coach Chaney. Clearly one of the best basketball coaches we have ever seen.
i was there that day. Jerry Tarkanian, John Chaney, Bob McKillop, and Danny Sancomb. Legendary.
