In this video, I show you how to fix and test for a Parasitic Battery Drain in a C5 Corvette. There is plenty of post online on how to fix it but I wanted to show you guys what I did to fix this problem and what steps you should take as well. I go over what to check for, how to check fuses, and what are the simple steps first in checking for the parasitic battery drain. Hopefully, this video helps you out!

I finally put in a Battery Disconnect Switch in and it helped out a lot as well. Video HERE: ruclips.net/video/3Xb---m3NbM/видео.html

You are experiencing what every Corvette owner goes through. Fixing these issues creates a bond with the car. C5’s are relatively simple and user friendly with repairs. Glad you resolved your issue.

Since I don't get to drive my C5 as often as I would like, I always have it plugged in to a "Battery Tender". I know, a lazy fix to the problem, but it corrects having to deal with a dead battery all of the time.

Thanks! I am always interested in others' experiences with parasitic losses. Checking fuse temperature is a good idea.

Great content, but 7 minutes in and still not knowing what’s going on is JUST wild bro.

My headlight motors or control module are causing my drain. I have the parts to rebuild them, just need time, and then that'll tell me if it's the module or not. In the meantime, I just unplug the headlights under the hood on top of each fender. Battery lasts great!

The security system WILL ALWAYS take energy and there WILL ALWAYS be some parasitic drain on a C5. Battery tender is a must if you do not daily drive or store a C5 for more than 2-3 weeks. A battery tender is not a lazy fix, it is BATTERY MAINTENANCE for vehicles that are not driven alot. I bet the one fuse that was blown inside is your cigarette lighter fuse (#10 I think?). That circuit is not good for high draw stuff like air pumps and such.

I liked your idea of checking the temperature on the fuses and relays! I have my trusty laser thermometer right here and will be able to quickly take a scam across all of them to see if one of them stands out. One of the remaining issues I have is that I cannot seem to "fool" my door switches as you have been able to do. I have a 2007 C6 (also black) and tried the idea of clicking the door latch in with a screw driver but that doesn't seem to help for me. Any additional thoughts on this? Thanks for your thoughtful video. Enjoy your ride!

Do you replace the fuse or is it a problem with the actual fog lights themselfs

@@OmegaGreedAK47 brotha, i saw ur video about an hour ago, i ran to my vette, popped the hood, opened the engine bay fuse box and the HORN relay was hot. Mind you the car was off and my horn hasnt worked forever. I removed it, ran the car for a few so it gets juice. if it cranks in a few hours, i would have solved a long plagueing issue and will light a candle in your honor!

A warm fuse indicates a bad connection. A fuse is not a load and should never be warm.
