I have never had much experience with SMC fans, they just are not common in this area I guess as I have never seen one other than the one that used to be on the back screened in porch of my other house, never payed it much attention because anything after the 80s I really don't care about too much. It was a 16" pedestal model. It worked okay until it started blowing fuses. I never opened it up to see what happened, it just got tossed because at that time we were working on selling that house as the person who lived there had passed away. I am guessing it may have been one of the ones that had the metal clip that chewed through the head wire, but I can't say for sure.
My school used to have those fans in the classrooms, I never liked them, they didn’t feel so powerful, or maybe it’s just me since I’m more used to Laskos, Vornados, Comfort zone power curves, and industrial fans.

They were pretty common around here, a lot of them were sold at the The Home Depot.

The 16" model is underpowered, but the smaller ones were as powerful as the Lasko units available as the time.
