Sometimes our parents are our downfall for our personal growth, once you start working one problem after another. You even wonder. My own opinion when you start working to you better live far and be strong with your groups. If i will give i will give and if i don't want then thats my decision. If parents feel that they had to do a lot by feeding and paying your school fees then in the first place they shouldn't have given birth or thinking of having a child. If you want budden free life don't have a child in the first place.
I totally agree most importantly, never tell them how much you earn. If not you are dead. They will be expecting you to do everything, even if they have the money! I have experienced it already and I am not married yet!

This is so educative and many young Africans can personally relate.
African parents are the main problem as to why their children can't invest and take risk when they start working. Immediately their children become successful at their job, they either stop the work they do or lay back and begin to depend on their children.
They then gradually start to make their children take full responsibility of themselves and bills at home. This drains the child both financially and emotionally.
My problem is why can't these parents continue working or take responsibility of themselves even though their children work. Why can't they work and invest for themselves rather than seeing their children as investment.
The mentality of seeing children as investment need to be scrapped!
