came across a 20 cent coin 2001 centenary of federation but surprisingly what caught my eye was the Tasmanian Tiger instead of the most unusual animal that lives in waterways of our beautiful continent the 🦆billed platypus
the coin itself is not very worn which of course shows the Tasmanian Tiger what a truly extraordinary creature will never ever forget seeing the last
Tasmanian Tiger looked up like something it would never be the same certainly seeing this beautiful creature was a broken heart & mind not ashamed to say that my eyes grew a little wet

not sure if told you about a Victorian coin that i came across when using a phone box it came with the other coins so you could imagine my surprise anyhow its very worn but managed to make out the date 1892 pretty sure that the have a fair idea of this particular issue

Excellent video PJ! I have noodled 67 5 cent changeovers in the last 3 months alone. Im going back to the $1 and $2 coins,would be awesome to have one of each paint error!
i think you should have named the video "TOP 10 rare error coins " and just replace 1972 5c and 2016 changeover dollar with other error coins :) would be good if you can do a TOP 10 for non-error coins meant for circulation. $2 Coronation, 1972 5C and changeover dollar got to be on that list :)

I just quickly looked through my coin collection and found:
50c - year 2000
$1 - years 2001 & 2016
I have 4 x round 50c coins - year 1966
And my oldest coin is a Penny year 1939
I’m excited to finish putting them all in my coin album I purchased recently

Ok so now I know which Anzac one dollar 2014 coin PJ is talking about, I wish he just pointed it out, There's a distinctive chanel on the outside of the face side of the coin, Will be keeping my eyes peeled now 👍

2016 $1 have, 1972 5cent have few of them, have change over as well , I've had heaps buy never checked the 2001 Federation, not lucky enough for that 2001 $1 coin , my 1966 20cents I'll have to really look at them as sometimes I see one or 2 kinda like yours , 100 year Anzac coin looks cool
2:31 I'm so disappointed, after calling a coin dealer, I was told none of my circulated coins are worth anything. I'm wondering why some of my coins are being advertised for thousands of dollars on Ebay ?

I have found a 1$ mule in 2004. Sold it for 150 to a mate who sold it for 750 a year later... looked for them since but bah... no joy. ( he collected coins, i dont!)

Good video. I'll tell yas a bargain I sold a 2014 coat of arms 50c planchet clip error for $50. It was circulated but but near perfect. The missing piece was 1mm deep perfectly matching one hexagonal sides corner to corner So another 50c fit exactly in it. Any idea what the value of something like that would be??

Thanks for subscribing. The 2014 is the highest mintage out of the lot. Look for the others that have a much lower mintage. 2014-2018. Good luck PJ

I have a $2 coin AUSTRALIA. Unsure of the date as it has no head . It has the rim , on head side but it’s not stamped .
U can see a very vague head shape on the coin in certain light . But can’t see writing or year
Thats a good top 10 as for the 2016 5c being 11 i would find 10 of them to 1 50c Mabo. Your 2011 10c might even be harder to find. It ain't easy to come up with one of these list as we out here are full of opinions :-) great list. HH Brad

With regards to error coins - are these recorded before realise so they prove they are genuine or do they ‘ slip through unnoticed as errors - and also could potentially some of these coins be counterfeit coins as I’d imagine coins are far simpler to copy than notes .

Always an interesting presentation regarding unusual and rare Australian Coins, Just a suggestion, have you considered ever cleaning your finger nails, they are full of rubbish (dirt) never know what you might find. Happy hunting (digging)!!
im new to this coin caper. Just wondering what it means with the Anzac 100 year $1 coin with the obverse of a 10c coin. I am assuming the head side is like the 10c coin? But how would you know or notice by just looking at that particular $1 coin without comparing to the 10c coin. Thanks
It creates a double rim type error. Google images of a year 2000 mule and you will see the double rim.

if its a genuine ink run then yes there is some extra value. If it just has pen ink on it then no value.

what about the the 1984 20c coin, or the 2005 regular coat of arms 50c ?
Both of those coins can be bought fairly easily either in a mint set or in the PNC and the 2005 COA was not intended for circulation.
I have a $1 coin i found when working in a bank from a new roll where i think as i havent looked at the coin for years, where the 'al' in international is missing, ie international year of peace. Worth anything?
It might be a die fill error. Depending on condition may add $10 - $20 to the value.

No, The 2014 has a high mintage. Look for the 2015-2018 dated ones. They are much lower mintage.
