Nice work, on a foggy night its as good as on the original series! I used a Russian military research modulated phase laser (phaser) and ....well....I wrote my name on Mare Umbrium on the moon....couldn’t resist it 😉
Tricoder, saw 1982 at Lorence Livermore labs, it was medical and corded at the time and did everything. That was 41 years ago, who knows what they have now
I AM STUNNINGLY AMAZED!! YOU DID A SUPER FANTASTIC JOB! I LOVE IT!! WISH I COULD HAVE ONE!! SO........ WHERE ARE THE COMMUNICATOR AND TRICORDER BUILDS YOU WERE GOING TO WORK ON?? I AM DYING TO SEE YOUR FINAL RESULTS!!
I know this vid is quite old now, but I wonder if you can help me. I want to disassemble my Art Asylum P1 phaser, but it just doesn’t want to come apart. I’ve removed the battery cover and undone the two philips screws on the underside, but the top and base don’t want to separate. can you give me any tips?
@@3DPrintedProps, no. I think the AA/DST phaser uses 3 screws to hold P2 together...1 in the handle, 1 under the fins, and 1 on the left side over the selector. It seems like you’re only using the screw under the fins now. Did you glue the left and right halves of P2 together? Thanks
The watch jewel is too far forward on the Type 1 Phaser. Stills from the show indicate it is centered between the dial and readout, both front and back and side to side axis.
They don't seem to be on Amazon anymore, but this was the product title. RCR123A 3.7V 650mAh Protected Li-ion 16340 Batteries for High Drain Device (2pc+charger)
3D Printed Props : I found the exact batteries you used by pausing your video @21:31 and noting what was written upside down. I found them on eBay yesterday. Awaiting the batteries (last part) so I can start building my laser phaser. Thanks for the reply!
3D Printed Props : Yes indeed. I purchased the metal “Hero” kit, same laser, batteries, etc. I have a question. Why did you remove the board for the laser and wrap it in a heat sink? I thought the copper housing dissipates the heat.
How am I so late to this party? That is mega cool. If you are still around when I win the lottery, which I expect to be anytime now, I will pay you handsomely to build me one. 😁
Do you sell them? My diamond select phaser never worked so I sent it back. They sent me a new one. I paid 75 bucks for the phaser and 65 for the communicator.
I have a Phaser from diamond select toys and went to engage the site wheel and the Phaser 1 stopped working. I took it apart and noticed that the red power wire that goes from the power board to the battery board was cut. They put the wire under the sitting roller. Can I send it to you to fix. If so I will pay you it just needs a new wire to be sodered to the battery board and power board. Douglas Spende. I cant do it hands and fingers are to big. Thank You I watch your tube videos all the time.
Hello, Sorry its not working. I don't do any commissions or work for clients. I do this for fun and if I took in work I would have no time for my projects. But thank you for thinking of me for the job and watching my videos. I really appreciate it. :)
Just about choked when you said it wasn't really that expensive! $40 is like 80 meals for some of us. So no, I don't know if I want to risk damaging the one I have. If $40 is really that insignificant to you, you could always send me one, and I would work on upgrading that one. I would not mind one bit if you wanted to do that. ;-)
I just added my tutorial pics and a wiring diagram to my site. Should help a lot. 3dprintedprops.com/projects/
Do you take commissions?
I can’t find anything on that site, just a link to this video.
Link returns 404 error now!
Your phaser looks great in fact it's the best I have seen so far
That's a really impressive, and ingenious phaser.
I found one of the toys at a small game shop for $20, without the box. Your video actually helped me figured out how it worked. Thanks!
That is cool. I have that phaser and that shirt. Mine is unmodified but its very cool what you did with that.
What the hell happened to the sound at 15:03 ? Great Phaser! This thing has been as updated as you can get. Fantastic!
Follow-up. It’s been a while and came across the video. Finished it and got it working a week after my last post.
Popping balloons is still fun!
Awesome!! I look forward to seeing the other props! You rock!!
Nice I have 3 from JON and they work great. Phazer1 and 2 plus the battle Phazer.
Thanks!
Little plastic pegs make great clamps for small areas. The pegs normally get used for hanging Xmas cards.
That's a great idea, thanks.
Nice build, lots of dedication. I watched the entire video all the way through!
Much appreciated! It was a fun and frustrating build!
Thanks!

This is super cool, love it. Anybody know if it is possible to buy an "already-done" phaser like this. Thanks for sharing.
Check out jons channel. He has amazing stuff, its where I got all the parts. I think he sells entire phasers, or can make one.

My favorite weapon design in sci-fi.
Me too, I love this thing.
I want one!
Very Nice!!! I'm working on one of these as we speak.
Cool. It was awesome to make. I've started my communicator then I'm on to a tricorder.
Great video. Did you do the communicator or tricorder videos?
Awesome! I loved doing that gun ! It meant the world to me at the time. You rock
Yeah, this is one of my all time favorite projects. I need to get moving on the communicator and tricorder. :))

that was fun prop
Yep. :)
Stunning Man! Looks and works Phenomenal! Well done Sir!
AAA+

Thanks man! Its one of my favorites for sure.
Excellent video, if you used a GREEN laser (different wavelength) you will see the laser light during the day and even better when it's dark.
Thanks for the tip! I'm working on another so I'll try that.
15:05 the audio went really weird you might want to have a look at it
Would like to buy one with purple burning high power led laser, good rechargeable lithium batteries, metal housing.
Looks class, gonna have to try but will have to get my own parts as in UK, think a wee laser pointer will be first step!
Awesome Job Kevin !!
Wow! Coming from the master himself that means a lot. Cheers!
This is heroic.
Brilliant video mate.. very envious !

Did you have to cut a slot out of the p1 for the side rails? The two halves wouldn’t be flush without it I’m thinking?
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. 👍

3D Printed Props Thanks! You’re the BEST!
Excellent video! I wish I was good at building things. I could never do what you did. If I could I definitely would.
Do you just have the one screw under the fins holding it together? Epoxy? Thanks
The fins on the P1? I used some epoxy or super glue, I can't remember which. Probably epoxy. :)

Hi Kevin. Which kind of Tamiya Paint did you use on the P2 body?

Unless I missed it you never listed the drill bit sizes. on the video it looks like 1/8", 1/4" and 5/16" is that right?

This is what I ordered.

Next foggy day you’ll have to be out there fighting off a Romulan invasion.
Is this the original series phaser?
Yeah, the Art Asylum toy phaser is based on the original series model and the metal parts are based on ones taken from the hero prop.
now you just need to use one of the really powerful LEDs, the ones that can burn things.
I need to try it. I know when I was focusing the laser it burned my finger.
Should put a green laser inside and make it real. I did that with my one.
He's gonna build the phaser cannon from the pilot episode
It's going slowly, but its in process.
cool AF
That’s cool
made my own with a laser pointer from wish for about $4
Great solution. :)
Cool!
Thanks, frustrating but fun project
Where do you get the asbestos powder?
You should make and sell these. I'd buy one. Hell sell me the one you made.

cool
Is that laser hot enough to pop balloons and burn holes in paper, you know, to show off with?
I need to try it. I know when I was focusing the laser it burned my finger. I'll charge the batteries and give it a try.
could you build a phaser for me
