For decades I play beat the clock. I set my timer for 15 minutes and I get as much done as possible in that time. I am always amazed what I get done and I'm done unless I decide to reset the timer. I now know I can unload the dishwasher in less time than the coffee brews. I now consider it my morning stretch. lol

Yep. I teach my kid's and friends that I'm amazed what I can get done in like 7 minutes.
I'm getting ready to leave the house and complain I have no time, yet, I say to myself, ok, you've got 7 minutes. World to see what you CAN do, not the opposite.
      Voila! Completed the task...

Calling someone while doing tasks like tackling the dishwasher, emptying all the trash baskets, watering plants, folding laundry etc. makes both the phone call and the housework a win/win.
Sometimes I get done with the call and think 🌻 Wow I can sit and relax for a bit now!🌻

I've tried decluttering on the phone. It doesn't work for me because I want to really listen to whom I am listening and talking. My mind wil get distracted by trying to put things away. I think a more mindless task is helpful for me....like watering plants or folding laundry.

I love you guys! The very first video I watched of yours you said just get up and do one thing for five minutes. So I paused the video and scoffed, then I got up set a five minute timer and cleaned out the cabinet under the sink in the bathroom! I felt so good and motivated! I haven't stopped since! Dawn, thank you so much!

Had to laugh and be thankful...When I was a little girl, my mother told me the saying that most of the things that you worry about don't even happen. The conclusion that I drew from that was that I needed to worry about everything that I didn't want to happen so that it wouldn't happen! So thankful for the work God has done in my life to show me that this is NOT the way to deal with our fears. So thankful that He is always there to listen, that He loves us so much, that He is powerful to act and that He is in control and has what is best for us!

I came home yesterday, after 5 days of decided I would start decluttering and when I walked in, the kitchen was clean and there wasn't dirty laundry covering the laundry room floor and I literally thought to myself "Who cleaned my house?!" This is great!" < Oh wait, I DID!!!!! I had made so much progress that it didn't hit me until I left for the day and returned. Coming back to a clean house, or waking up in the morning to a clean house is SUCH an amazing feeling. So much, that I actually did my makeup TWO mornings in a row! LOL! It gives me time and energy for self care.

We haven’t been able to attend church for months now. However, last Sunday our leaders held a devotional via zoom. Even though we weren’t meeting in person, just being connected and knowing others were listening and praying together was so spiritually uplifting. This scripture in Matthew (18:20) came to my mind: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” :)

I love the idea of a 5 minute declutter! I'm guilty of thinking that I will use a big chunk of time in an evening (or weekend) ... but by the end of my day as a stay at home mom to 2 young kids, I just don't have the energy to go forward with that planned 'big' declutter. So I just don't end up doing ANY decluttering. This is a great reminder I don't need to do a big declutter to feel successful.. small ones are ok too! It's all about the end result.

I wish my family would take that approach! My mama is currently mad at me for donating one of two jewellery boxes she gave me. I mean, I wear no jewellery and wven if I did, who needs two jewellery boxes! It's like having two wallets! My mother in law is the same though, keeping every item she ever received thinking she is doing her children a favour because they may be worth something one day. I believe leaving this world with a house full of hoarded clutter is not an act of love but an imposed burden.

I really appreciate the phrase “back in the game.” That is so true for me in decluttering and even in my walk with the Lord. If I have been neglecting my clutter, I feel like such a hero when I get back at it even in a small way. Even a little progress feels great! In another way, it applies to my relationship with the Lord. It feels so great to spend even a little time with Him if I’ve been neglecting my time with Him and feel distant. I feel like I’m “back in the game” when I do that and am more able to feel His presence and comfort and hear His voice!

Great reminder that bit by bit really adds up. I was introduced to flylady 20 years ago (fell way off the wagon) and the 5-minute room rescue (her term) is brilliant. This is a great one to start with a "before" photo and weekly progress photos. I was amazed at how two five-min sessions a day transformed my home office (piles of paperwork to sort, file). I actually started doing this again this week and filled up a donation bag quite easily.

So many good things in this video! Your 5 minute suggestion is so helpful. This week has been especially busy preparing for my daughter's bridal shower, and when it was over, I was exhausted. However, just seeing the title today helped motivate me to simply exchange clean for dirty dishes in the dishwasher. That alone made me feel "back in the game" as you said, Dawn. Thank you! And the Grounded Bible Study sounds awesome! I'm sharing the link with a group of women with whom I've been studying stress and fear management lately. This whole video is helpful in that way!

    Dawn and Diana,
Thank you so much for the ministry and effort you both (and Tom and all the kids) put into these videos. I have binge watched so many of them while using these videos as my 10 minute pocket of time here and there to donate, throw away, put something on Facebook marketplace to get it out of my house. Thank you for helping me eliminate the guilt around my items. The only way I can describe the emotion of freedom from the guilt would be like an octopus releasing its prey and I was the prey. The burden let me go as much as I let it go. I truly appreciate your efforts.
Just one more thought: I am eagerly trying to find those pockets of time to de-clutter because I have a child with extreme medical needs and I truly need for my husband and I not to be burdened any longer with too much stuff plus the medical needs. It's just a lot.
With sincerest thanks for all you and your families do,

I have been doing this for almost 2 weeks and it is life-changing. My goal was 5 - 15 minutes decluttering each day (except Sunday). After 5 minutes you achieved your daily goal. Sure you sometimes do it 15 minutes, half an hour or even an hour, but even 5 minutes is a step ahead and you feel good. Imagine were you are in a year! I don't care if it takes three years - I am simply gettting ahead each day. Exciting! And much bettet than before! Yes, before I always thought, too, I need some extra holidays or months for that. No - the trick lays in 5 minutes a day.

Thank you for all the good advices you give! I love all your videos! I made the Marie Kondo decluttering some years ago and it totally changed my life 💗 I am so happy I started to simplify my life since I am now in dialysis and I don't have nor time nor energy 😅 Now I have help from a lady with the floors and the dusting once a week and for the rest of the cleaning I have set up a system for me that works very well. I do small tasks at the time, like "clean the cupboard with the plates" and then I put it in Google keep and decide how often I think it's necessary to do it, let's say every three months. So every three months I get notified and do it. And, every time I clean one spot in the house e do the decluttering as well. It's amazing how many thing can go and it's getting easier every time.

God and fear do not occupy the same space! (THATS MY PERSONAL QUOTE I USE DAILY) Thank you so much for all of your videos. Im a 38 year old woman from Alabama & 8 months pregnant with our first baby girl. I started watching your videos about 4 months ago. Ive never been so motivated to remove all of the clutter & I HAVE! I cant wait to share my journey with you all once our baby arrives. I have documented everything! Right now as I type it literally looks like 10 families have been evicted from our home if you look at the load out by our ditch.😜 We have taken about 8 loads to the thrift store. I have also donated around 20 big black gargabe bags of cloths to families in need who are located near me. I still have a long way to go but I can finally breath this morning. My father was a hoarder and I didnt want our daughter growing up the same way I did. Like I said this is our first baby and Im so excited to know I can focus on her without all the "stuff" weighing on my mind in the background. I just cant believe WE DID IT & we did it pregnant!! 😂😂😂 Labor should feel like a vacation as hard as I have worked in this house this past few months. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MOTIVATING ME & GIVING ME THE PERFECT RESOURCE TO DO THIS SUCCESSFULLY. I LOVE YOU ALL & ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS & APPRECIATE THE PRAYERS AND THE FACT THAT YOU ARE CHRISTIAN WOMEN SO MUCH. WE CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT GOD. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH YOU. If I can do then anyone can do it then anyone can do it! If you are reading this YOU CAN DO IT!! HAVE A GREAT DAY & GOD BLESS.

Love your videos! You last video motivated me to clean out my entry closet. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It has gotten so bad since schools closed down 5 months ago. Something that helped me with my five minute declutter this past week was have a labeled laundry hamper for donations in the garage. I started decluttering a drawer each day. Filled the hamper up twice in one week. Even my husband has put things in there he wants to declutter bc he knows where to put it now. 😂 It gets full and then I make a trip to the donation place. 😍

In doing wellness coaching I always encouraged people to keep a little notebook of 5-10 minute tasks they are wanting to complete. If they are wanting to eat at a time they know they shouldn’t be hungry, grab the list & pick something to do. Sometimes it is hard to think of a task when chocolate is calling!!! You two are super helpful and showing the “bloopers” makes you two feel more real and genuine- a great thing in today’s world of editing and fakeness! I really like how you talk about and more the REALITY of your lives not just the perfection of what it would be great to look like! Please please do not ever stop ending the videos with a prayer! Those are just amazing and feel essential to every video!! 🥰🙌🏼😇 Also, Jill if you started a channel with a daily or bi-daily (as I know you are insanely busy already) with just a daily prayer, devotional, anything like that I would absolutely love that! Not that you’re not amazing Dawn but since she is a Pastor (if I caught that correctly a video ago I watched) I feel you would be amazing and I know I would benefit from something like that! And a testimonial here: I honestly came across your page/channel a few weeks ago and read/watched a little and kept going BUT I wish I wouldn’t have now knowing what I know. However, God knows all and best and He has brought this content back to me at the absolute best time! Praise God for you guys and Praise God for Everything He does and knowing what is better for us than we do!

I was frustrated because I had a pile of stuff in my backyard and a pile on my front porch with n place for it to go because everything was closed. Finally I found a business in town that picked it up for me and sent stuff to recycling or the dump for me. It was worth every penny because I feel so much better and none of us here could take care of it ourselves because of physical limitations. Now I’m ready to sort through more because I know I can get rid of it!

I need this Bible study so much right now. Keep waking up in fear & dread as the school year approaches and my responsibilities mount since I homeschool (last 2 yrs) but I'm adding 2 more children to HS. I'm freaking out & I'm realizing I'm looking for a way out. The fear has been gripping me. I just signed up for the Bible study! I can't wait! Thank you to you both for committing to this, I know your lives are busy and full, I don't know how you do so much but I appreciate it immensely. Love you both!

Guilty! I'm so guilty! I easily get overwhelmed when I start a tidy, declutter, cleaning. If I push through I'm so drained! But it does feel good after. It's like you were describing me! Lol! Glad it's not just me. 😊

I'm using this time to minimize my house, little by little. Thank you for the practical advice and for the spiritual moments as well. I need inspiration daily... God bless y'all! (I'm from GA)

Just started watch your channel. Y'all are fun and happy. When my kids were little (I have a lot of kids...5 are boys), I would just call for a Ten Minute Tidy whenever I looked around and felt overwhelmed. I would start the timer and say Ready... Set... and..... GO!
The kids would get so excited to run around for 10 minutes putting toys and clothes away quickly (and screaming with joy) asking "How much more time?" Then, no matter where we are, when the timer dings, they can go back to whatever they were doing. I can exhale and clean a little better or just sit down and relax a few minutes.

Did I need that prayer! Thank you!! Fear is clutter. I mentioned in another video how I grew up poor and had little clothing, so I hoarded clothes. Well, I also grew up sort of prepper/doomsday, so we kept everything in case we needed it should bad things happen. I actually developed a fear that God would punish me for not being a prepared steward if I got rid of stuff. I realized that is a fear that cluttered my life. God will provide.

Hi girls! I’m Sue and I love to watch your videos. I would love to be able to be a minimalist. I am just totally, totally overwhelmed with stuff and clothes and the majority of it is not even mine. I feel frozen in a spot and can’t even move. I am the sole caregiver for my mom and helper for 3 other family members and just don’t know how to get anything done anymore. I may never get to see a minimalist home but I do enjoy seeing yours and your great family, thank you so much 😊

It’s totally my style.. I m self confessed lazy person who gets tired even by mention n plan of a long project .. so I don’t let it become that big usually.. unless it is totally unavoidable like a move or change of design for a space or makeover for changing needs of family or renovating where u have no choice but do a big project in a limited time . Otherwise it’s 15 mins to 30 mins a day mostly everyday I like to spend on my home n space n see what corner needs me today .. it could be a cupboard to a few shelves in kitchen to some windows or some mirrors or a part of pantry .. anything.. it keeps u connected with ur home . N doesn’t tires u out n kills u !!

I just finished Beth Moore's Bible study on James. One of the biggest takeaways is how the Bible always says paraphrasing - "Do not fear, have faith." So faith and fear can't occupy the same space. But the good news is that wherever you already have fear - that's fertile soil for faith. Really changed my view of fear. Now when I feel fear I thank Jesus for showing me where I need more faith. Love you both!!

This is great advice. I don't have a lot of decluttering to do, but I have been trying to find at least one thing a day to give away or throw away. Even when I don't much time for decluttering or organizing, I can find one thing.

Perfect timing, yesterday I went thru my 5 tier bookshelf and decluttered over 30 books. When I finished I discovered I had so much decision fatigue I couldn't do anymore for the day. I felt defeated that's all I had accomplished, but everything you said about pain centers lighting up and causing stress makes sense now. I thought it was possibly deep seated laziness and I was mad at myself for not doing more.

Fear is the opposite of faith, and worry won't change the outcome. You must actively root out the fear and replace it with faith. You were created for this moment and whatever comes just know that God will get you through and know He goes before you and whatever you face respond in Grace and do it for His Glory.
