Sometimes it really depends on what counselors you have in high school. I was lucky enough to have some good ones at my school and am now receiving max financial aid at school (over $6,000) and have about $27,000 total in scholarship awards. The best advise I have is to branch out to everyone in your high school counseling area and apply to as many scholarships as you can. Questions may be weird but answer is unique ways example: the question was if I were stranded on a desert island what is one thing I would bring with me. Instead of saying a boat or something obvious I said the Robbin Williams Genie from Disney's Aladdin. I explained how it would have 3 wishes of my choosing and a fun, energetic and helpful friend, much like the kind of friend I try to be in my own life, ect. Get creative and think outside the box. Use that creativity to highlight your strengths. (This question and answer got me up to $5,000 each year along with a financial advisor and coaching team for school and life stuff.)

Kyle: What’s all of this money even going to anyways?
Financial Aid: Aye I can assure you that the money we collect is used towards the school as effectively as possible
Manager: Guess who’s buying a new car-alculators for the students
Best moment in the entire video🤣🤣🤣
Reminds me of middle school.
School Teacher: Now make an investment in this $250 graphing calculator because you will use it through here, high school and college.
College Professor: Graphing calculators are cheating! Not allowed any more!
Nope actually the end with the phone call is the best moment.
Got nearly straight A's throughout high school and I was told I did not meet the requirements to apply for FAFSA and could not apply for scholarships because I didn't meet their "criteria"... If it wasn't for a couple of life decisions I made, I would not be in college today, or ever...
the fact that we had different grades through high school you being the straight A student and me being lucky if I got an A in a class (I usually kept a D/C sometimes with one B average) that we both had/have the same issue issue with FASFA and scholarships with their stupid "criteria" is just ugggggh makes me mad. I am also right with you if I didn't make decisions back in Senior year of HS I wouldn't be sitting here in my dorm room being a 3rd year
@@abbyserl695 It's really messed up... and the worst part is most high schools don't prepare their students or don't give them all the info. I was told that I would be able to qualify for scholarships because of my grades but when I tried to apply, I didn't meet the "requirements." High schools give students false hope and act like it's not a big deal.
@@emilycancilla376 they really do give students false hope. They go and tell us all these things to apply for saying that you are qualified, but then when you go to apply you find out that you aren't. It's just so messed up
So how is college for you currently
@@justinfrancis4621 So far, so good. Still maintaining my high grades, thankfully

I-
Kyle should have took his mom with him bet he would have got that money then 😂😂

Gov: Guarantees Loans
College: Raises Prices
Gov:* Surprised pikachu face *
Exactly! Gov should tell colleges if you raise the costs on students, you won't get another dime for your deans and coaches to rake in $500k+ a year.
He pulled out $5 I'M DEAD😂
Leigh Burrell you got the 100th comment
😂😂😂 now we know where all the money is when that guy came in like “guess who’s buying a new car-calculators for the students...”
Attention all high school seniors or anyone who will eventually become a high school senior. QUESTBRIDGE. It's a scholarship. Full ride. At least look into it. I got it and now I don't have to worry about money. Deadline is usually in september of your senior year!
Just graduated and now I get to sign my life away to the army for basic human rights 🙂
If this is real, THANK U GOOD PERSON!!! I LOVE U!!!!
I can confirm this. I’m a 2020 college prep scholar and I’m currently applying to Yale through their national college match and am guaranteed a full ride to any of their college partners. Definitely look into it :)
It's real but there's no guarantee that you'll get into any of the schools. Still go for it if you qualify since there are no application fees.
Dang I'm over a year late to this comment 😂😭!!

Pro tip: go to a college with loyal and good Alumni! Also, the smaller the college the better!
Whys that?
@@ogottagame5654 The Alumni will often donate or even sponsor some students, sometimes paying full, if not partial scholarships for little in return. They also will donate to the college so there is more scholarship money to go around. And the smaller the college the more scholarship money there is, and the more likely that the alumni ARE loyal since its such a tight knit community

Edit: So I got my financial aid sorted out, and I’m currently taking my classes. Managed to get it sorted out last-second. Good luck to anyone else trying to get their college finances sorted out!
Bro they said they got 50 cents for him. Hahahah you still got the struggle O's
I'm in college and the financial aid package I got this semester for 8 credits because I'm on my last semester in community college wouldn't even pay for my textbooks. I had to take one credit more to qualify for a bigger package which finally paid for my full ride this semester. One credit makes a whole difference apparently.
Cool also awesome that y like anime
New facilities, pools, new programs that don't add to your education, any sport you want, seems like we made college unaffordable by asking for stuff we don't need
This is a part of it... and counseling services paid for by the campus eats up a lot of funding on campuses these days
Me: mom can we get cheerios?
Mom: no we have some at home

Honestly unless ur a pre med major and maybe even an engineering major... u don’t need to go to a 4 year school and community college would be very helpful
Omar Baha elaborate please. :)
@@adrianlima7204 Degrees dont really matter as much as they did 30 years ago... Everything now is in the for of certs and stuff. Unless you want to pursue law, medicine or engineering..
Gabe Dob I get that, it’s the other persons grammar that I don’t understand. College is another fancy supply and demand curve just like everything else.
@@adrianlima7204 med skewls don't really like when you take the pre med required classes (at least bio, chem, and physics) at community skewls because they see it as a cheap/easy way to get a good grade... obviously there are exceptions to this like money problems and such and I can't vouch for this 100% but it seems like that's the general opinion (u can search it up to learn more about how med skewls view community skewls)

This is why you should start with a good junior college financial aid actually easily covers entire tuition and it saves you 2 years at a university. Also gives you a chance to explore if undecided and more opportunities to rack up scholarships.
Me: "Hello I have no job, I applied to every scholarship and didn't get any of them, while other people I know got multiple of the oddly specific ones I qualify for"
Financial Aid: "Okay, but you have Presidential Scholarship and also this other scholarship."
Me: "Oh cool. Now I only have to pay $300 for this semester."
*accepts both scholarships
*presidential scholarship disappears
Me: "Where did it go??"
*gets letter in mail the following day informing me I qualify for the scholarship, but if I take it, I can't have the Presidential one
"Hello the website didn't say anything about not being able to have both"
Financial Aid: "Yes it did, in this very specific spot at the top of the page."
Me: "So can I switch to the Presidential Scholarship instead?"
Financial Aid: "Okay sure. You are switched."
Me: "Haha I have no job, thanks for the deceptive email and website that lacks information, I got my hopes up and now I have to spend $1,800"
