    • @Thercgeek

      It shouldn’t need much, but it’s really commensurate to the approach you take. The airplane will do a decent nose up approach using throttle to control the descent.

    When hand launching. I have noticed it’s easier to throw with your throttle hand, and control with aileron and elevator hand. Might be a little challenge to throw with your left hand, but you’re not chasing to get back to the aileron and elevator control stick. Just a thought. Take what you want and leave the rest.

    As a newbie I'm starting out with a Carbon Cub but seeing this recommended as a good first jet for sometime in the future. But everything I'm reading is talking about the importance of flying with more rudder, so would something like this with no rudder teach bad habits if the goal is to graduate to the Thunderbird someday? (This is all far in the future but playing in the simulator encourages dreaming)

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  3 года назад +1

      The f-15 is a decent edf, but I find that the 70mm viper jet is a better first edf if its viable. On the rudder, jets generally don’t need a lot of rudder for flying around, so I never found it an issue on the f15. For certain maneuvers it’s nice to have, but not necessary for most of what you’d want to do with it. In fact, there are some jets that I don’t use the rudder for anything other than steering based on how the airplane responds to it. The A-7 Corsair II is one of those as the airframe responds strangely to rudder inputs in flight.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  4 года назад +1

      I do have links in the description. A good solid radio system is one of the best investments you can make, so if you’re looking for something less expensive than the dx8 I have listed, I’d recommend a dx6. This will give you options for future aircraft. You can get away with a 4 channel radio on this, but if you ever plan to get anything with retracts and flaps, it won’t work. For battery options, take a look at roaring top batteries (roaringtopusa.com). They are fantastic batteries and should last you a good while.

I think I saw at the Viper jet (with retracts and flaps) that they recommend a 6 channel transmitter, but I’m not sure if it’s working, that’s why I ask. I will never be able to buy expensive jets, that’s why I’m looking for cheap stuff. I found a transmitter with 8ch at around 50$, but I don’t know how good it is. I really need advice!

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  4 года назад +2

      Yes, a 6 channel radio will work with a jet that has retracts and flaps. I personally wouldn’t recommend getting something with less than 6 channels. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for with this stuff. You may be able to find a good used setup. What’s the $50 radio that you found?

      If hand tossing it without the landing gear on it, It’ll land in grass fine. With the gear, it’ll handle most prepared surfaces so long as it’s long enough. Now this as a beginner airplane, I wouldn’t recommend. To set yourself up for success, it’s best to build up some proficiency on a more forgiving airplane and then move on to this. The aero scout is a pretty fantastic trainer! bit.ly/AroScoutRTF I would also recommend seeking out a local club for some personal instruction. Typically clubs will have instructors who are happy to help newcomers. They will help get you going much quicker than trying to learn on your own.

    How about Gens Ace 4s 2600?

      So long as it fits, it should work. I’ve not used gens ace packs personally so can’t talk to the performance of them.

    ALL OTHER EDFs I have had one can remove the EDF, open up to clean any grass, balance etc with the removal of two or three bolts. W this jet, it has bolts,but it is also GLUED! WTF!

      Only that center runner is glued. Once removed, the fan is accessed through the hatch via two screws. That runner peels up pretty easily, but agree it would be nice if it was fastened instead.

    Not sure how I feel about no rudder.

      It’s something that could be added, but the airplane does just fine without them.

      Airbus737 I agree. I can’t wait for the day they make Servo less retracts so small that they can be installed on some umx models. I also wish eflite made a 70mm f15 like the thunderbirds f16. Also I’m still thinking about starting a rc plane yt channel from ur suggestion

    Is the gear really not retractable, if not thats a shame :(

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  7 месяцев назад

      For these smaller 64mm edf models, fixed gear is the norm due to their small size. Retracts are common at the 70mm edf size and larger.
