I'm looking at possibly purchasing this pack but one thing I didn't see you mention or didn't notice by my own observation is adjustability. I'm 6'6" with a long torso. also I don't think you mentioned how many cubic inches of internal space there is.
These packs are very similar but a few differences stand out. The ACT has front access, while the Futura has a lower sleeping bag compartment. The pack fabrics are also different and the Futura has a trampoline style suspension system, while the ACT has a lumbar pad. Happy trails!
This style is now discontinued, so we cannot be sure of the exact size. But a similar version is 28.4" x 11.8" x 8.7" when fully packed. Check with your particular airline to see if it meets the requirements, but our guess is that it would be too large. Good luck!
I use it the same backpack in trip to Italy (by Etihad), Amsterdam (by Etihad), Taiwan (by China Airlines), Hong Kong (by Cathay Pacific), Greece (by Qatar), New Zealand (by Emirates) and Australia (by Qantas). It will fit in overhead compartment if you put it head not facing the compartment door because it too long if you put it in that way. My rucksack weight under 7kg for 2 weeks trip and flight attendants allow me to bring it in to cabin.

Deuter Futura Pro 42 Day Pack is VERY BAD BACKPACK. AFTER FEW monts they looks like very old. High price, and low Quality. I have advertised it because many of the seams have loosened, broken, the color of pale, and the complaint was rejected on the grounds that it was used. When you carry Deuter everyone thinks you are an experienced mountaineer because he looks 10 years older.

for anyone wondering, the number 42 in the name is the size in liters. this is the standard in backpacks.
