Gday Myles, I have the same mower with rear discharge deck too. I have hardly any level spots on my property and I dont think there are many other mowers that take on jobs like this, as well as the Kubota. Front deck also lets me get all the way over the edge of dams as the wheels and weight are 600-700mm back from the front of the cut.
    Thanks for the video.

Nice Video! I'll be picking up a Kubota F2560 next week and look forward to the 4 wheel drive when mowing around my pond. For the last 8 years I've been carefully mowing it with my ZTR and sometimes sliding into the water. The ZTR is great for flat surfaces but not-so-good on wet slippery slopes.

Hi David, I also have a Kubota ZD1011 zero turn and have been partially mowing this and other ponds somewhat precariously with it for only 3 years. I never used the ZTR though on the pond slope nearest the water. I was always too fearful of sliding into the water!
I posted this video because the F3690 handled the water side slope so far without incident. The process I use is to head down the slope in 4wd mowing deck first and then reverse straight back up. At first I only go down a meter or two to check if the ground is even and not slippery. If the mower has trouble reversing back up the slope then I disconnect the mowing blades and lift the deck. So far the mower has always been able to reverse back up the slope. On the odd occasion I also needed to engage the diff lock by pressing the foot pedal on the left. A couple of times in the video I needed to do this to get back up the slope.
Anyway the F3690 reduces the amount of grass I need to tidy up with the line trimmer to finish the dam maintenance.
I am mowing dams in Victoria Australia. It would be interesting to know which part of the world you are doing the same.
      Best
      Myles Harding

@@dieselmow773have you ever tried mowing any slopes sideways (as opposed to up and down)? I don’t mean next to the water, of course. But elsewhere have you tried it?
      Great video!

Thanks for posting. I'm in Victoria and am looking at an out front 60-72 inch mower as I have 17 degree slope, so up down is fine but I'd like to traverse as it will be quicker. What angle is the dam slope you are mowing? What angle can the Kubota handle traversing a slope? What width is the deck? What fuel economy do you get? Do is difference in revs /fuel economy between mowing flat short grass and slowly working the dam slopes? Thanks!

Thanks for your comment. The dam slope is around 20 degrees. For me traversing a slope more than around 10 degrees as the sideways lean is not so comfortable. The curve of a dam wall is also rounded at the top and bottom so the 72 inch deck I am using in the video will have issues where the slope changes if one traverses.
Where slope changes rapidly it is better to face the changing slope rather than traversing it. I have 48 inch diesel Kubota ZD1100 zero turn that I have to use when mowing and traversing long drains and cut aways.
I can mow 30 degrees up and down when it is dry and there is good grip. If the ground is uneven then event 10 degrees will be a challenge as more than one wheel can come off the ground. I use the front and rear diff lock and 4WD on any slope that is uneven because the mower can sharply change direction when wheels leave the ground and the others grip.
The fuel economy of the Kubota diesels is really good. They use around half of what the petrol equivalent uses. If the whole area is on a slope then I would maybe persevere with the discomfort. The mower won't tip over because the wide deck gives it support.
I will post another video where I mow a 30 degree much bigger dam wall that approaches the F 3690's limit. Hope this helps you.
