Ever thought about doing a crossover wih Heathcliff? Just to see if which one of you deserves to be he best? I wouldn't mind seeing he two of you togeher, cat-fight-like?
This is pure nostalgic and hopefully they played this song for an opening song of the 2024 Garfield movie I would love to see how they played this song in the movie it will be on a correct way
Watterson had a staunch opposition to merchandising Calvin and Hobbes in any way as he wanted the comic to stand on it's own merits above all else. Calvin and Hobbes ran for 10 years and didn't even have greeting cards with the characters, while 2 years into Garfield's syndication a TV special was produced. While Watterson admires animation as an art form, he felt like he couldn't make a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon because he wanted everyone to have their own interpretations to how the characters sounded. The only piece of "merchandise" outside of the comic collections was a reading comprehension booklet.
@AndrewJNeis i did too! (and i still do lol ^^) the part that's stuck in my head is where the guy says "number 1 cat" and garfield makes his eyes wider hehe xD
Actually, the kiddie ride version of the song is slightly different to my ears. Still a great song. I'm also looking for the full 1987 Woody Woodpecker Show theme, as well as a sound clip of Grace Stafford's Woody laugh. I have the short version of the 1987 theme without sound effects, so if you'd like to listen to that I'll put that up. :)
45 years and still going strong for Garfield!
He'll still fight for our right to love junk food, tv, and long naps for generations to come!
Lou Rawls' untimely voice in those animated specials' songs made Garfield the right amount of cool.
80's and 90's Garfield theme, for sure.
Lou Rawls voice is hevan to my ears
This tune really conveys the lore behind Garfield.
They should have played this in the intro of the live action Garfeild movie
I know
They need to play this in the movie that Paramount is doing with Chris Pratt as Garfield
@@1Soniccool Shame they didn't. But atleast they mentioned Lyman on Jon's fridge.
God rest Lou's soul.
Still have the CD after all these years!
I hat it
@@jasminedownes530 how dare you
@@villager7714 I think they meant to say they had it.

Best song on the album for me!
I would love to see a Peanuts and Garfield crossover
If This song does not play for the new garfeild movie made by Sony I'm gonna cry
I wasn't born in the 80's but with a sweet song that is better than the songs nowadays, it's no wonder Garfield was a big deal back then
Only two words to describe you; cool cat
Ever thought about doing a crossover wih Heathcliff? Just to see if which one of you deserves to be he best? I wouldn't mind seeing he two of you togeher, cat-fight-like?

You better look out.
I think this is remix of the original recording.
This > The Garfield Show theme song
As much as I love The Garfield Show's music... you're not wrong.
Bill Watterson quit the business rather than let EXACTLY THIS happen to Calvin and Hobbes.
Watterson had a staunch opposition to merchandising Calvin and Hobbes in any way as he wanted the comic to stand on it's own merits above all else. Calvin and Hobbes ran for 10 years and didn't even have greeting cards with the characters, while 2 years into Garfield's syndication a TV special was produced. lou rawls sang this in a gemmy Garfield.

The best music's ever
Long live the king of song (rivaled only to Elvis, of course, but that goes without saying).
I'm looking for whatever version of this song is used on the Garfield kiddie rides made by Jolly Roger. Anybody heard that version?
+Conversus Friggin Vans (Paul) The version of the song that you seek is taken directly from the 1982 special "Here Comes Garfield" as the intro song.
Actually, the kiddie ride version of the song is slightly different to my ears. Still a great song.
