    What a Christmas in 1984 as a 7 yr old. Remember watching the box of delights and got to stay up to watch One of our dinosaurs is missing...my favourite film for years as a child.

    I love watching all these old 80's BBC Christmas ads for shows, Kaos looks crap though & I can't imagine them ever showing One of our Dinosaurs is Missing ever again

  • @Embracing01
    @Embracing01 Год назад +7

    When was the last time they ever repeated the Box of Delights?. Why don't any of the freeview channels we have like ITV3, Drama, Yesterday etc (all mostly appealing to the 80-90-yr old target audience) show these old TV shows?. It's always Porridge, Summer Wine, Allo Allo and Minder and modern-ish stuff like Midsomer Murders.

    The BBC1 closedown as the snowmen spin & the national anthem plays and it fades to dark, but the moon is still there whilst the snowmen continue to dance - Absolutely Brilliant!!

      A handful of people like me care about their Xmas idents. It is an upgrade from 1983, and came before 1985's... ugh...

      @bdavebaldwin I started using High Grade tapes that year. The best one I used (at the time) was the Sony UHG hi-fi cassette.
      Even better were the Scotch EXG hi-fi tapes that were introduced the following year & I finally got to use the PRO grade tapes which were, by VHS standards, excellent

    Ahhh Christmas 1984. I recorded The Top Pop Videos of '84 (ITV/Thames) & the 2-part TOTP hits of that year
    I remember Escape To Victory being premiered on BBC ONE along with The Deer Hunter on BBC TWO & Superman II on ITV on New Year's Day
    One final memory, I also remember watching the abysmal "Live Into '85" at my relatives house on New Year's Eve. That was a shocking disaster for BBC Scotland with Tom O'connor virtually running out of ad-libs !
