Decades ago I used to go camping with a guy that was a maestro with the Dutch oven. With a canoe of course you can bring nearly anything so we’d fix elaborate pot roasts with all the trimmings, cooked in wine…three of us but we ate like pigs when we were young. We even made pot brownies once! It was the 1970’s, so it was ok. 😅
Hahah wow, sounds like you guys had a great Time :P
Is Griz ok?
Excellent.... finally something on TV worth watching 😎👍💯
Enjoyed watching that. Great vid. Thank you for your time and effort making all your content. Love your saw. ...keep up the good work 👍🇬🇧
Your things are often so much more than just functional. They are artsy. Love it.
I'm so glad I stumbled across Alexis Outdoors 😘 She helps me stay positive of when I finally move to the mountains and live happily ever after.
Hello from Ukraine. I bought a dutch oven and now i'm looking for recipe videos. I am very glad to find your video, because I have subscribed to you for a long time.
Hello from Minnesota USA!! I was so excited to see you got a Dutch Oven! I taught Dutch oven cooking for many years, and competed in Dutch oven cooking competitions. If you ever want any tips I would be happy to help you.
Thanks!! Great to know!!
... Now that's a bonus !! ..
Hello from a fellow Minnesota dweller. I live in the Brainerd Lakes Area
i have 2 dutch ovens a small & the big one!!! the options are endless!!! glad to see you got one of your own!! you can even make bread in them or awesome desserts!!! thanks for taking us along & be safe out there!!!
I really want to make bread in it!! That's my biggest goal with this! Thanks so much for watching and being such a great addition to our livestream too!
Loved the line "some sort of stew" usually they are the best ones.
Thanks for sharing!
Great to see you back camping!
Awesome! I have been Dutch Oven cooking for 2 years now. Normally on a weekly basis. What I do is effectively poach the meat in beer 🍺.Pork, lamb, beef , chicken - doesn’t matter. No chance of burning and the results are awesome. Very tender. Also no chance of over cooking or burning! We like beer 🍺 in New Zealand! Cheap beer is fine. Thanks for sharing Dave
That sounds AMAZING! Thanks for sharing that tip I'll have to give that a try for sure!
That’s a beautiful saw
Some yummy looking dishes there
Delicious food, beautiful camp spot, very relaxing. I know Grizz might not be able to do the things he use to do, I hope he is doing well, sending love his way.
Love that Dutch oven! We need to get one. Perfect for this time of year. Beautiful shots and very well done. Happy fall camping.
Prettiest camping Mom on the planet! Brandon is one lucky dude!

감사합니다
Dutch oven is great to have - I don't use it nearly as often as I used to - more convenient kitchen options. Really enjoyed this, You've been pretty busy lately, so hopefully it'll slow a little this coming winter and you'll have more free time for fun.
Thank you so much I love you video I got subscribed God bless you !
Love the pot! The stew looked amazing!
The video was great and the Dutch oven is always fantastic to cook in
Best way to cook.
Ty for another great adventure.
Awesome video
It doesn't get old to see you light a fire. May you light as many campfires as there are hairs on a fox's tail...I borrowed that foxtail comment from a former employer...thanks for the relaxing video.
Hey, watched you and Brandons live stream tonight and enjoyed it!! I just wanted to let you know I have learned so much from you. I started camping this year, just myself and two labs. My family doesn’t enjoy the outdoors like I do. I just wanted to say thanks and I always look forward to your videos!!
Awe thanks so much Jason!! And loved seeing your comments in the livestream, thanks so much for supporting it last night!!
Hey Alexis, great video as always. Dutch oven campfire cooking is the best, when we go camping, we always break out the Dutch oven and make something in it. We bury it and put hot coals on top of it and let it call cook all day. Red wine chicken with onions and potatoes is the best.
Thanks for the video…always enjoy watching them…stay safe and take care !!
Good to see you overnight in a beautiful site on a lake, wow! Enjoy your dutch oven; you made some good looking vittles, there. Peace to you and yours.
Great video, keep em coming 👍. Stay safe and be well. Strength and Honor... 👊 🤙 🍻
Awesome video. Love using the Dutch oven. Try baking next time. I’ve had some surprising success as as a beginner. Always look forward to your new videos. You’re very inspiring! Thanks
Thanks so much Wendy! I really want to bake bread in it!! I always appreciate seeing your kind comments on my videos!!
If you’re interested, I did a couple of videos about my experience!
Very cool.
Thanks for the video
Thanks so much for watching!! Haha great channel name :P
Thank you. I also upload outdoor videos
the Dutchoven is a great thing. We use it a little differently. We dig a hole and light a fire in it until it's full of embers. Then we just put the pot in there and shovel embers on top of the lid. Pot roast, stew or even bake bread, everything always works out well in the oven.
Can't go wrong with a dutch oven! Your dinner and breakfast looked so good! Thanks for taking us along. Cheers!
Nice one Alexis. The perfect vlog to relax and dream to. Beautiful photography.
That looked so delicious and eating out of the pot is the best......
I really enjoyed this laid back overnight bushcraft camp video. Looking forward to the next. As always, thank you for sharing. Peace Out.
Awesome pot, great meal over a fire, great view. Perfect..well done
Dinner is served, Alexis your amazing !! Great video!!!!👍✌️❤️
Dutch ovens are great! Pizza, cobbler, stews! I did one four day camp trip to Death Valley and cooked EVERYTHING in the D.O. !
Sounds awesome!!! Thanks so much for watching!
in the scout troop I worked with they had to burn the first pizza . I told them to preheat the oven . haste makes waste . Roy Boyz

Great camp, yummy food, and I love the Dutch oven!
Good vid.
We love cooking with cast iron. Enjoyed the video! Hate I missed the live on TimberMates tonight. I caught the tail end of it. I will finish watching it later.
I really like these simple videos. Makes me feel like I have escaped into the woods for a while.
Hello from Australia. Great to see another informative video from you. Aussie Pete
I love using my Dutch oven for making certain things. I make a cheeseburger soup/stew that is great. So many ingredients and there is a certain order everything goes in once its cut but it's all made in the same pot which is great for less cleanup. One thing I haven't tryed is using it as an oven and making bread in it. Putting it in coals with coals on the lid also.
Haha funny you mention because that's one of the top things I want to make too is bread in the dutch oven!!
Great looking stew!
Love love love cooking on cast iron 👍🏻 and creative cooking while wild camping is the best! Around these parts however, I tend to use boil in a bag this time of year, late fall, due to the amount of extra hungry bears we have.
A cast iron Dutch oven is definitely needed to be added to my kit.
I have that exact same book and haven’t learnt a bunch for the exact same reason 😂
Cheers from the West Coast 🇨🇦❤
Excellent video of camping overnight in the woods cooking with a new cast iron dutch oven from Cabela’s!
Always enjoying your video.
great views ,beautiful places, tasty food you share
God bless you girl
From IL
Thanks for another great video!
Oooooh.... THAT Dutch oven! 🫣
Great video! Excited about your future content ideas.
Thanks so much Pete!
That oatmeal looks amazing great job.
Thank you for this video. Great cinematography as usual. I have always wanted a Dutch oven. Looks like I will have to get one soon. Again, thank you for this video.
You go girl. That is an awesome fire starter you got there. Wink wink.
Haha, thanks!! I have seriously used it on every single trip since you've sent it to me, I love it!!
There truly are few things in this world better than a good hearty meal made in a cast iron skillet and a Dutch oven over a camp fire.
Thanks for sharing this video. Would love to see you do an extended trip in Alaska 🙂
... Yeah ,, an overnighter with Alexis ...
.. Got to start with a big THANK YOU ,, for showing the clearing of the forest floor to build your fire ring ,,So many video's don't stress enough on fire safety .. and well this is another year that thousands of acres of forest's are forever gone ..
.. Agree Dutch Ovens are a great piece of camp gear to make almost anything ..whether over a campfire or buried in the ground and coals above and below .... good to see you found a backpackers ultralite model ...lol.... Be sure to season it well in oven at home inside and out ..lid too ...... and when cleaning NEVER ,, NEVER USE SOAP OF ANY KIND .. will penetrate pores and get into food .... meals looked great and I'm sure future use will be awesome meals as well ... they are fun to try everything ...
.. Beautiful location for an outing ,,only missing was Grizz the Wonderdog of the North and your awesome canoe ... an evening paddle would have been awesome ...
..Look forward to future video's and time on the water with Brandon ... Stay Safe ..
Can't beat the Dutch iron for campfire cooking, wish I could say it's worth its weight in gold haha always great to see you out inspiring others as well!!😁✌️💚✊️🔥
Beautiful area to camp....love the dutch oven....I like watching your outdoor adventures. I am amazed you can camp alone on overnights....I know you must see wild life and wondered how you feel about seeing snakes? they are the biggest reason I dont camp. Happy adventures
You probably know this but you can put the lid upside down on the coals and use it like a skillet. Lodge even makes a trivet to hold the lid. We do bacon and pancakes that way.
Excellent "first fire" for the new Dutch Oven. Did you forget the beer? Your camera work is amazing (as always!!!) Thanks Careena!
great video. thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Your meals are great already but can't wait to see what you cook with that dutch oven.
You're still swinging that axe like a pro. You've got all the bases covered as a canoer.
First time watcher, So nice to see a fellow female into bushcraft and survival. This is my dream ! Mad props to you and your channel keep up the good work
no hay nada mejor que tus vídeos,

Well done camp and cooking Alexis! Greetings from Latvia! :)
😉Enjoyed your video have a nice weekend 👍👍
I only use cast iron things for cooking - regardless using it in my home kitchen or out doors. Love your videos...
thank you Alexis for your video see you soon kisses.
Those Swedish pants Lokes Good on ya! I will buy the same for the love of my life 💪
Alexis is the best 💕
Meh... No Grizz... 😥
But still a wonderful video 😊 so thanks Careena, and please give him ALL the love and fuss from me 😁👍
Great! Greetings from Brazil! 🤠🙏🏻🇧🇷
Great video!! Glad to see you back camping overnight. Question, what if any spices did you put in your stew? I missed Griz.
Planting Trees that will provide in future years, nuts and berries to provide for your future trips should be considered. Collect and plant out in the autumn nut Trees and make the countryside a larder and not a green food desert.
Perfect
Lookin good, dang
Wowww the pot 😃😃😃😃👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
Me gustó el video y aprecio mucho que compartas tu experiencia. Saludos desde Chiapas, México.
Beautiful spot in a beautiful country, Careena! 🍁 I love steel cut oats too, but where I live in Colorado at 5,000 ft they take forever to cook. Say hi to Grizz!
Haha wow yeah I guess they would take forever, never even considered the different cooking times up there! Thanks so much for watching :)
The Canadian pioneer princess!
I don't skip ads 😊
awesome video Carrena 😁I missing Grizz tho.
Thanks Wes!
Good solo camping
Ok had to stop watching this because I saw you had a live stream which i will watch again...then i got side tracked but just finished it.....dutch ovens are the best....looking forward to your fall and winter camping trips when you will use this a ton of times....thanks for this one!!!
Haha you're awesome Kristin, thanks for supporting both, it was great to see you in the comments on the live last night!! And I definitely want. expand my cooking I this thing, can't wait! I want to make my own bread in it... gonna take some time to learn that one though and get a recipe for it lol
Ha.. I’ve got the same book along with the same excuse!
For a quarter-century, I've maintained my own year-round campsite in my family's woods. My favorite time for camping is fall, with winter a very close second. These past few years, I've really focused on bushcraft skills and projects. One top goal for this season is open-fire cooking with my Dutch oven. This weekend, I'm going to use my large Dutch oven with the rimmed lid to whip up a stew. While I still plan on making a cooking tripod, your idea of using the Y-branches seems a better option for controlling the heat. Thanks for the inspiration and give Grizz a good scratchin' for me!
That's amazing! Great for you Mark!! Thanks so much for watching!
