Another great review of an Explorer ship. As mentioned previously, I am an explorer at heart and currently have most of the ships dedicated toward that end. I stopped spending here on the Carrack. I chose not to go to a bigger ship as the Carrack will fit my ticket for ships and the 600I is for me, a waste of luxury. I don't need that. This ship will be my home ship, with smaller ships dedicated toward other things. I have exploration ships that can traverse small, medium and large jump points, with this being the largest. She is a big ship, but eventually it will be fully equipped for everything needed to explore. Having a small ship hanger and coming with a cargo capable small ship is great. I like the Pisces as a shuttle to bring crew up from planet side or small amounts of cargo and spare parts. That rover bay will definitely hold two Ursa Rovers or an Ursa, a Cyclone and I have also put a Dragon Fly/Nox/X1 or a Roc mining rover in with them. It will comfortably fit at least 3 vehicles. In combat, it's quite capable of holding it's own but as you mentioned, it isn't built towards a combat role. Not having missiles does limit it's punch, but those big turrets do make short work of smaller ships. I love this ship. Thank you for your review, and fly safely.
@@Farrister That's really why I put my comment because your review is older, but the game still looks as good or even better years later. I'm excited to, but I really hope it's not a hype thing.

I've no interest in the Star Citizen gameplay, but exploring the ships through other people's work is fun. I'd buy the game in a heartbeat if I could just walk around the ships (due to work and life I've no time these days to grind for them, nor am I likely too when the game gets a final release). These videos are a great substitute. Of all the ships I've seen on this channel so far, this is definitely the most well-realized as a livable and workable ship. Lots of little touches that show the thought and care that went into designing it.
Twice a year or so they do in game expos where they open a giant showroom with tons of ships for a week. You can walk around all the ships and fly them for free. And best of all the game is free 2 play during the expo.

When pyro comes out i plan to create an exploration org and use the carrack along with the pisces to explore pyros planets and moons. Phase 1: carrack stays in orbit, pisces to surface, take some pics of surface and fauna, document atmosphere pressure and composition, return to orbit, meet with carrack, go to next planet Phase 2: carrack lands on planet, stays there for a day or two, thouroughly exploring the area and surface, taking more detailed pictures of fauna and landscapes, understand the planet and maybe pyros solar flares, move to next planet. I hope i can someday actually do this, its my biggest dream in the game to run an exploration org with carracks and other explorers. Maybe in the future multiple crews can explore multiple systems!
@@Farrister That's from Portal. There's these robotic turrets that talk to you in a cute squeaky friendly voice as they're killing you, lol. I thought EVERYBODY had played Portal by now, lol.
I like it. The closest to a well designed ship in the game. Can cargo, can fight. Not perfect though. Whats the need of two bridges? Could have had everything on the top bridge and had a torpedo system on the bottom bridge. Or a really big gun.
Look what they DID to my BOY 😭😭😭 Still hate the outside, but that internal layout is quite nice and I like the flow for the most part. I think it could use a redo on the lighting though, feels so dark and gloomy. I think that mood makes sense for the cartography deck, but most everywhere else, especially the living space, it should be brighter white I think. Much closer to how it is on the Idris. And they *could* have kept that sleeker looking exterior and made room for the internal layout by scaling the ship up a bit, giving the best of both worlds, but nooooooo. Sad times lol
They told you people: if they scaled it up, it wouldn't fit in most hangars. Personally, I like the new Carrack way more than the original concept, and so are many other people, who believe it to be the best designed ship to date. In my opinion, it doesn't need reworks - only some minor tweaks, which I suppose are inevitable for most ships we currently have.
The ship can barely squeeze into large hangars as it is. Making it any longer would take landing in large hangars impossible and slimming it down would mean taking multiple rooms out and there is no rooms with extra space to try to make one room do two things. The last little bit of tweaking they did to the ship for the community proves this.
Enjoying your vids just a suggestion on sound there is a lot of “sssss” when talking. I know they have gear to lessen that and it would make your voice even more soothing. Oh, and we can hear your mouse movements as well.
Personally I'm not so sure, it seems to be more geared around long range exploration. I do wonder whether it might make for a good scanning ship at the centre of a combat fleet - a combination of AWACS or Command & Control. But that's very very speculative
