- Being a chinese descent is not that easy before 1998, but nowadays youcan find so many chinese descent working in various sectors, not only in economic, but also education, business and even politics. His talks show us how the role of chinese descents in Indonesia for coloring the development of its country.
Beside working as a Dean for Creative Industry Faculty at Universitas Ciputra, Surabaya, Freddy Istanto also works as the president of Syarekat Poesaka Soerabaija - The rganization that dedicate itself as the keeper of historical landmarks in the city of Surabaya.

I'm Chinese. In fact I'm happy to see Chinese Indonesians are getting recognised in Indonesia. All people should live in peace and love each other.

salut sama chinese indo, tak malu pakai bahasa indonesia kadang pake bahasa daerah masing2 dengan logatnya yg medok, orang KL aja pada heran karena berbeda dengan chinese Malaysia,,, mereka bahasa Melayu saja tak mampu.. :'(

LOL....mau chinese mau lokal mau itu blasteran barat, africa,india,arab. Kalo jiwa nasionalisme nya lebih tinggi dari orang lokal. Itu yg harusnya di bilang orang Indonesia. Dan orang lokal yg menghancurkan Bangsa itu yg harusnya di bilang bukan orang indonesia.

good news to hear the oversea chinese geting inside another culture and assimilated in other countries. But i think chinese gov should still provide helps for these oversea chinese if any riot or massacre happens considering the 63 and 98 slaughter in indonisia. It s not only fails of indonisia, it s fails of human civilization for people carrying out these atrocity.
Malaysia have the same tragedy in 1963.

Most Indonesian chinese is of Peranakan descent.
I am peranakan descent. I don't look oriental though.. more like native indonesian but with a bit lighter skin.. and I love Indonesiaa so much..
