SCALARTES | Where to climb in Rome

Returning to Scalartes after more than 10 years, previously it was called Vertigo. Here in primary school I came for swimming competitions, in high school for student competitions, after school events like the Salewa one and finally I took a boy climbing when I was a home educator. In short, it has always been a point of reference for me. Like two good friends who don't see each other often, it's nice to meet again and see each other's evolutions.
At the time the climbing walls were a tunnel, everyone remembers it, a warehouse, a small external mushroom and the tower. It has always been an outdoor gym which made it and still makes it unique. It is part of the Fulvio Bernardini multifunctional center of the UISP. The UISP (Italian Union of Sport for All) is a sports and social promotion association which aims to extend the right to sport for all citizens. Since 1948, the year of its foundation, UISP has affirmed the social value of sport, rights, the environment, health, solidarity:

I'm going back with Carlo, a long-time friend of mine, I started climbing with him when we were bold young men.
Carlo became an instructor right here, at Scalartes and he was also one of those who built the entire new bouldering area.
In total around 400 square meters of leads and the same number of boulders.
Today the gym offers:
- Tower for 16m lead climbing from lead or top rope
- Two regulation lines for Speed Climbing
- Bouldering room (35mt covered tunnel), with System Wall and Moonboard 2016
- Mushroom with bouldering and circuits
- Stretching and strengthening area
- Beam area
Of course they offer courses and, at the end of the evening, you are likely to eat a pizza and a beer together brought by someone.
