Really nice, but there are a few things i really wanna point out:
-The fire-shooting piranha plants exist since super mario bros 3, on the nes
-in all mario games, piranha plants dont come out of pipes that are facing up, if you are right next to the pipe, or on top of it
-When mario becomes fire mario, his hat also becomes white
-in your game, when mario becomes starman, for some reason, only his "brown" parts of the texture flash colors
-yoshi normally has a red saddle
(-in the original super mario bros, the "spiky bois" (also know as "spiny") also appear outside of the caves, for example, when a lakitu drops them)
-the buzzy beetles dont die if you shoot a fireball at them
i hope this will help you improve the game and/or know about mario

Awesome once again! Honestly love the fact you added Yoshi in, especially with him being later removed due to hardware constraints in the original.
Hopefully maybe there could be a castle level next? If you continue this series or not, I’d love to see what else you do in that art style, like Sonic or something.

I've got some ideas for a few more videos, definitely including castle levels, alongside underwater levels and adding enemies from a bunch of different Mario games. Some people have asked for a Sonic remake in this style, so I'm definitely considering it! :D

Hidden mechanic with the pipes: Whenever Mario is on top of a pipe with a pinhara plant in it, the pinhara plant won't come out until Mario gets off the pipe.

I know this is your game and you don’t have to listen to any of the fans but super Mario 3-D world was the first video game I ever played, so please can you include the cat bell At least a little bit because I have so many great memories of super Mario 3-D world and I love the game
Thank you for the kind suggestion!! I'm currently brainstorming of some ideas of what I could add to the game, and I'm definitely considering the cat suit! It may not make the final cut because, from what I remember, it's got pretty complex features, but I'll do my very best for you! :D
This is some mario game but better, best of all its 2D!
The fireball needs a delay/offset between the shooting. Just add a wait function between when you can press the shoot button and that should work.

New suggestion: What if yoshi could get powerups when you arent riding him? A fireflower would make him breath fire, and a mushroom would make him hqve a longer toung range, and maybe a star would make him faster. I just like when games have the environment interact with more than just the player.

Can I make a teeeeeny suggestion? Yknow how you've drawn all the active sprites "freehand" so they're kinda wobbly and cute? It's a little bit jarring that you've got hard straight lines on some of the level bits (like bricks and pipes and such). Maybe trace over the tiled background bits with a nice chunky squishy freehand drawing?
You can make suggestions as teeeeeeeeeeeny or a beeeeeeeeeg as you like :)
I definitely see where you're coming from! I initially tried to do the environment pieces as wobbly as well, but it made it super hard to line up nicely for seamless tiling. Most of my problems stem from my raging incompetence, so maybe If I put a bit more effort, I could get something looking okay :P

@@icoso yeah no problem in fact if you play either the original NES version or the SNES version (but not the GBA version) the very first piranha plant you encounter in the game is one that shoots fire

Actually the Piranha Plant that shoots fire balls actually first appeared in smb3
Yoshis arms where originally orange in smw so the sprite you went of off wasnt accurate but honestly it looks better
wii mario games are so good, i still play them sometimes

•Make Mario able to die
•This might be pretty picky, but o think it would be cool if when Big Mario shrank into Small Mario, there would be like, particles(?) like in the original super mario game (Do you know what I mean?)
•This is also pretty picky, but if Mario's leg was on one side of Yoshi when he was riding him.
All of these are just optional and ideas, but very cool video 👍

I dont know if thats in your scope for this series, but piranha plants dont get out of their pipes when mario stands on or besides the pipe. Great Video tho, i really loved your fireflower-mario sprites, theyre really pleasing for some reason
In addition, fireballs don't normally bounce off walls because that makes them pretty OP

Request: Rather than Bowser be the boss of every castle level, can you make the bosses vary and have Bowser as the final boss.
Here's how it'll go in my opinion:
World 1 Castle: Larry
World 2 Castle: Morton
World 3 Castle: Wendy
World 4 Castle: Lemmy
World 5 Castle: Iggy
World 6 Castle: Roy
World 7 Castle: Ludwig
World 8 Castle: Bowser
If I can find the time to make these mini bosses, I'd love to! I'll see how I go, but I can assure you I'll definitely be adding Bowser into the game :>

One of the only missing things is enemies colliding with each other and turning around, and there is also some inaccuracies with whether you wanna make the game colored like the classic or more modern, but thats fine. If you want a good excuse of what to add if youre lazy, just add random things like mushrooms or pirahna plants that are colored more modern😂😂😂
