El and Shay, thank you for the REAL TALK! I was recently diagnosed (Gleason 3+4=7 / Grade 2) and my urologist is attempting to get me scheduled for surgery by the end of the year after being diagnosed in October 2024. I have a number of friends and family member who have elected to have surgery (or thought that was their only option), who are now having regrets with that decision. I'm attempting to educate myself as quickly as possible to be an advocate for myself when consulting with doctors to discuss my options. Unfortuntely, a number of doctors, are not always interested in what's the best longterm treatment plan for you. With that said, I would like to encourage you to re-invite Dr. Deville back to discuss radiation oncology. Based on my research, I'm learning that the long-term survival rate for radiation therapy is a viable option men should consider as well when deciding how to treat their disease.
