I never knew about this show! I’m crazy about her, she was treated badly during her career in Hollywood they must’ve been jealous her . She’s wonderful and beautiful 💫💜

Wonderful to see Tom Conway (as the attorney). I hope there are more episodes to view. I find it a very good show. And Betty Hutton still has it.

I love Betty Hutton, this show was alright but it wasn't the success she was hoping for, personal problems followed her through her later years, but she bounced back and made many tv appearances most notable her interview with Robert Osbourne on TCM in 2000,she was a great personality and the Hutton Gluttons website is a great tribute to her!

A gutsy, wonderful woman -- Betty Hutton. Her drinking almost did her in, but her warm heart, brassy voice and her talent, well, that's what I remember!!

Betty Hutton never had a drinking problem. She had a pill addiction, not alcohol.

@@martyrobinson4474 You're totally mistaken. Betty Hutton's alcoholism was well documented and indeed, was the primary cause of her financial fall and eventual homelessness. She was also quite open about it in the years leading up to her death.

Wow, that was an almost revolutionary first episode. I don't think I saw another sitcom, until MASH, where someone died as part of the plot.
I can't say that I remember Ms Hutton from any movies (perhaps South Pacific?) but I imagine Judy (?) Holiday made it difficult for Ms Hutton to get parts as they seem cut from the same cloth...as it were.

She was not in South Pacific. Here is a list of the movies she appeared in:

      Happy Go Lucky
      Let's Face It
      Strictly G.I. (film short)

Betty Hutton preceded Judy Holiday...she was fabulous with Howard Keel in Annie Get Your Gun (replacing Judy Garland...big shoes to Finland she did so quite admirably).

At 25:25, as well as Hutton Productions, Inc., when this has been distributed, and Desilu Productions hasn't filmed this series until Episode 6 (but it was filmed at the Samuel Goldwyn Studios), according to the copyright notes on the bottom-right approximate corner, does that text say 'BEAI, INC.' or is it 'BEAL, INC.' after the words "Copyright MCMLIX by"?
Also, for your information, this short film doesn't show the Desilu logo at all, apparently because this is the very first episode; and I don't even know how BEAI, INC., Samuel Goldwyn Studios, and Hutton Productions work together to make this production film.

No. The character thought he had indigestion, so he took a pill. (Just ONE.) But the "indigestion" was actually a heart attack.
You couldn't show a suicide on TV back then.

Not with one pill. It looks like he took a pill because he wasn't feeling well, but he was having a heart attack, and it killed him.
