My wife and I just saw her in Houston on October 15, 2022. What a fantastic and awesome show! Very impressive and down to earth talented singer/musicians. Kudos to the great guitar player. Needless to say, We became instant Kelly Willis fans and fans of the great tasting Irish food at the Mucky Duck. German beer there was A+. Thanks Ms. Willis.
Omg.. She's lost none of that voice.. I still buy your albums, been a massive fan since the 90s.. Kelly you just rolled back 30 years for me. This is crazy good. Love from Wales uk.
I am amazed at how underrated she is. Actually, I don't think "underrated" is quite the right word. She hasn't been introduced/promoted the way she deserves to be. People just don't know about her. She's been busy raising a family. Once they find out, Katie bar the door. I think she is at her best when she is performing with her husband, Bruce. To be sure, her singing "Little Honey" was used in the film Thelma and Louise. She's making a comeback after raising her family.
She's been ripping it since the early 90s. She played the game in Nashville for a while. She had the competition beaten imo. Watch her early MCA stuff. She kills it.
Back in the late 80's and early 90's I had such a crush on Kelly and went to every concert I could and even kept a picture of her pinned to my old dashboard of my Bonneville and it made my girlfriend so jealous. I met her once at the state fair and I was a bumbling idiot but she just chuckled and smiled.
A year ago! Five years ago, one other individual who only posted her album cover stated! Well it's been over 40 years when I saw, and heard thus pretty little lady sing this song for the very first time at a bar-b-que restaurant called "Dick's Bar-B-Que in Saginaw, Texas, where I once lived with my wife, and kids, and that one night we had to decided to go out, and eat, I think mostly because my wife just didn't feel like cooking, but because Dick's Bar-B-Que was such a staple there in Saginaw, and because we were good friends with Dick, and because he had the best bar-b-que in Texas, that's where we went to eat that night, and making our way to our table, my wife, or one of my kids said, "Oh look, they have a band playing tonight! When I first heard Kelly's soft sweet voice for the very first time, she wasn't halfway through the song, when I turned to my wife Gaye, and I told her, "You mark my word, someday here soon, that little lady's going to be big, you wait, and see!" Well I don't really know how it happened, or why, but not too long after that, I heard Kelly's song on the radio one day, but it wasn't Kelly who was doing the singing, it was George Strait, and I told my wife who was riding in my truck that day, along with our kids "Well I'll be damned! O' George done stole Kelly's song!"...😳😲 Now whenever I hear Kelly's version of "her song", it reminds me of my late wife, who always fell in love with Kelly's voice!, and her song!
I didn't have to turn my head whenever you walked in The only one to let these chills roll down my skin My heart beats faster I hear your name I feel my confidence slipping away Thought I was doing fine bout to get you off my mind I see you face and then I'm wrapped around your pretty little finger again It feels like ages since you lay down in my arms I see no good reason still I'm tangled in your charms My God you're smiling you catch my eyes My heart is pounding deep inside Thought I was doing fine.... [ guitar ] Ain't gonna let no man go down without a fight My stalls and walls look better in the bright daylight My heart beats faster I call your name I feel my confidence slipping away Thought I was doing fine....
Girl still has it. I've been a fan from the beginning. Saw her live in St. Louis back in the early 90s.

could we say that you're wrapped around her pretty little finger then?
Just discovered the cd this is on (What I Deserve) and have been playing it so much I’m surprised that I haven’t worn it through.
Watch out, lasers are powerful beams - Thanks for watching!
Oh, this wonderful voice!
Amazing!
If that opening verse in Kelly’s signature twang doesn’t grab you by the soul, you don’t have one!
Right you are! Thanks for watching!

Sorry, I recorded this first, in 1979. Or was it 89?
😢😢😢
Both versions are good, but Kelly may do it just a little better. 🙂
Ha! I won't tell Bruce you said that!
