    Surely the Gnome of Home gave you the details? lol
    Anyway here is my usual breakdown
    This is from what I think of as their mid period, with two dancer/performers added to the band. Originally Arisa and Mai, Arisa left to concentrate on her senior year of highschool so Mai was joined by Nenne a classmate and fan of the band. Nene had to leave in 2017 because she was getting hearing damage, Mai left in 2018 after 6 years with the band. 2019 saw Angelina 1/3 (pink haired girl) join and a month later yuri joined taking over the drums allowing Hana to move up front adding an extra guitar - the current line up was complete.
    However there was the "first period" 2009-2012
    The band was started in 2009 by F Chopper Koga (bass) she had been in another band "The Pink Panda" but wasn't happy so decided to start her own band but only if her former high school classmate and best friend Hana (drums) would join. They then recruited Armmy as the vocalist and guitarist Eita, however Eita only lasted a few months and was replaced by Tomo-zo. This lineup lasted until 2012 when Oreo Reona (keyboards) joined and almost immediately after Armmy left, the reasons are messy - she'd been missing gigs and was clashing with Koga, she subsequently formed a band with Eita ironically enough but was to die in 2015.
    2nd Period - 2012 - 2018 + see details above lol
    3rd Period
    2019 saw Angelina 1/3 (pink haired girl) join and a month later yuri joined taking over the drums allowing Hana to move up front adding an extra guitar - the current line up was complete.
    I actually have a suggestion, there happens to be a song "Lock On" that they played and have videos for in all three iterations of the band. Once in 2010 (the year I discovered them), once in 2017 and then again in 2020. I think they make an interesting study in the development of a band 😉 If you are interested here are the links.

      @@homegnome2429 lol pure serendipity - I was most amused by him trying to spot Angelina when it would be about 3 - 4 more years before she joined the band and she would have been about 14.

      The only thing that I would add is that Armmy was diagnosed with an rare undisclosed long term illness and from what I understand this was the cause of her missing gigs. She eventually passed away from this disease.

    I guess few people explained Angie situation, but I thought another thing that's worth mentioning is the context behind the sound of this song. Ever since the Delicious album all GS albums had at least one Tomozo song which is just like this you just listened, where she's the lead vocalist and the song is bubbly/upbeat (because she's Pretty Alien Princess 😅). Otherwise Tomozo is only doing backing vocals or adlibs on their regular songs, but even then pretty rarely. This just a another sound in their large catalogue of sounds that they can pull off, might not be everyone's jam, but it's just them.

      Tomozo May be the guitarist that I enjoy watching the most! She’s a great player, but her attitude is so infectious! You can’t help but smile when she’s rocking out and having a blast!

      @@PrymalChaos First, your comment saying Tomo-zo was the Eddie Van Halen of Japan was perfect. Definitely different guitar styles but both extremely talented and with huge smiles on stage. She has certainly become one of my favorite guitarist. I think she is underrated because she sometimes dresses in silly girly outfits and since she constantly smiles, only occasionally look at the frets, it seems as though her parts can't be difficult which is far from the truth. I was blown away by her guitar playing in Doll$Box.
      Early Gacharic Spin had a vocalist named Armmy who unfortunately passed away at a young age from an uncommon disease. They decided to add two entertainers since there wasn't a vocalist in the center of the stage. To be honest I think Gacharic Spin has always been more of a live band focused on entertaining than studio band. Either way, they write some incredible songs that are played with incredible musicianship.
      There are two live version of "Hunting Summer" that are insane to watch. Oreo sings lead in both and in the older version she has a piano solo with one of the entertainers. Both have pianos strapped to their back and they swap bending over and playing over and over again. How they stood up and found the right keys is beyond me.
      In the newer version pink haired Angelina 1/3 takes Tomo-zo's guitar and at first it looks like she is playing the solo until you see Tomo-zo peak out from behind her and of course with a huge smile as though playing blind in an awkward position was nothing at all.

    I'm pretty new to Gacharic Spin, that's why I'm a little late to the party here. What I find impressive, however, is Tomo-Zo playing guitar, singing, AND dancing in-step with the "entertainers" all at the same time. I can't do any of the three.

  • @homegnome2429
    @homegnome2429 Год назад +2

    Thanks Prymal - this suggestion was just to show that TMZ can also do lead vocals - her songs are always a mix of kawaii vocals and shredding guitar. If she was always the lead vocalist for GS then it wouldn't be for me, but as a change up I love it. Variety is the GS spice of life.
    This is about 2017 I think - Angie is much shorter than Mai (the dancer you confused her with) - she's only just taller than TMZ :) If you don't know for sure it's Angie, then it's definitely not Angie 😁
    And yes, its very confusing to jump between different GS eras but as you said the fun thing is there's always something new to see - another reactor said they're perfect if you have ADHD!!...

    Tomozo biggest funnest performance is the MV for "final fantasy - Nicorin Planet" and this year's Tomozo song is "Magic Umbrella Girl". Mai and Nenne danced, sometimes sung backup as here and rarely sung their own lines, also rarely Mai played second guitar or Nenne played keyboard.

    This band has been around for awhile and is not afraid to dig into their discography and play older songs. A good way to see this is with the song lock on. They still play this and it has subtle changes with every incarnation of the band. Maybe should look a festival put on by show ya for women in music. Will not try getting auto correct to assist in the spelling. Just shows the breadth and depth of talent that exists in Japan, that most may not know of.

    This is an earlier incarnation of Gacharic Spin (not the first one) pre-Angie and Yuri with the performers/former members in this live video being Mai and Nenne. Nenne being a replacement for former member Arisa (Japanese pronunciation: Alisa), who left the band in 2015, with Nenne replacing her shortly thereafter, only for her to leave in 2017, followed by Mai a year later in 2018 after 6 years with the band. Angie and Yuri joined GS the following year, 2019 and that is the incarnation of the band that those who follow Gacharic Spin are most familiar with who haven't yet seen nor heard any of their earlier work with Armmy while she was still very much alive (RIP). For a sample of early Gacharic Spin, be sure to check out the video for "Juicy Beats"✌️❤🤘

    Tomo has another tie with eddy Van Halen… apparently he invented the tapping that she loves to do…also he got the idea from watching jimmy page play his guitar one handed while fist pumping…
    This info is of course solidly backed by internet comments…
    Not a big fan of red outfits…
    I yearn for the days when everyone wore their colors and tomo was consigned to her pink princess dress and matching hat…I also recall some bearhead slippers at one show…

      Van Halen didn't invent tapping, he popularized in rock music but the first mention of string tapping was by violinist Nicolo Paganini, 1950's jazz guitarist George Van Epps was one of the first guitarists to use the method and in 1965 Italian guitarist, Vittorio Camardess played two handed tapping on acoustic guitar, here's one of Stanley Jordan playing Stairway to Heaven, tapping on two guitars at the same time ruclips.net/video/NeooHiX4oH0/видео.html

      Yeah I really like the current version. Hana is a killer on drums, but I think I prefer seeing her exercising her front person skills on guitar and vocals. Angie is like the Tasmanian Devil. She’s a whirlwind.

      @davidarcus5131 Год назад

      I don't think it's quite right to say "they got rid of the two dancers." The bandmates and many fans appreciated how the dancers animated the music. Nene (mostly on the right as you look at the stage) was forced to leave because of hearing damage. Mai, the taller of the two, stayed on for at least another year before "retiring" and resuming her studies. The closest they've come to to having anyone forced out was when Armmy left in 2012, as I understand, due to a combination of bandmate tension, sudden and unexplained absences, and health reasons. The core 4 members' reception and encouragement of everyone who's been a part of this group is, I think, one of the distinguishing and endearing qualities of Gacharic Spin.

  • @nanakakitano9724

      He seems to have some Asterism reactions, but I'm always up for more since they are very high up there as far as my favourite Japanese bands go (probably a close second actually). I like their originals more than the anime covers, but they are still really good and worth checking out.
      I'm somewhat surprised he hasn't done Sokoninaru yet, but I might have misremembered. It took me a while to get them, but I have always been impressed with their playing.
      I am all for reacting to tricot since I really gotten into them in September or so and have been somewhat obsessed with them ever since even though I really didn't like them the first time I heard them (a year or so ago). The track that got me was 右脳左脳 and I can not wait for their new album. I am bummed I didn't realize they were doing a European tour back then that passed really close to me, I would have gone for sure if I had known.
