Prices went up at copart because everyone knows about it and it is all over youtube. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. Now the more desirable cars are going for near clean title value for a salvage car. Not really worth the effort anymore unless you get lucky and something goes for dirt cheap.

Got to tell you the Ford Transit has been the mainstay of many thousands of British van people for like 50 years! The word 'Transit has become the word to use for a van like 'Hoover' is what every floor vacuum cleaner is called regardless of who makes it.
They used to be built in the UK but Ford did what they always do and shafted their workers and moved to Turkey where they pay $15 an hour. Good van, drives well, reliable and no we don't have transmission issues here.

The KW in the video is NOT the model that we all love. The one that everyone loves is the W-900. The one in the video is a T-something or other. Yes, the cabs between them are similar, if not identical but, owner operators like me like the chrome and shine of old school designs. I almost bought a W-9 once but decided to stick with Freightliner because, in the KW, I couldn't stand up from the drivers seat and walk right into the bunk. I bought a Classic XL instead back in 2005 and she's still my daily driver. I also own 3 Cascadias. The wide cabs are nice and my drivers love them. Call me old school but I just prefer my Classic. I also still have my old FLD12064 which is the first tractor that I bought. It's basically a Classic with a set back steer axle. My drivers ALL started in that old girl and none of us mind taking her out now and then.
Now for some advice on being an owner operator-DO NOT buy your own trailer! I own 5 tractors all leased to a small regional company. I run under their authority and pay a minimal fee to use their trailers. I do pay for my plates but I get a HUGE discount on insurance. My drivers and I can also get health insurance through the company. They also find the loads for me and my drivers. If you REALLY want to get your own authority and run completely independent, lease a trailer from one of many companies that do this. That way, if the trailer needs ANY kind of service, the leasing company pays for it, not you. I know many owner ops that own their trailers. Their biggest problem is how much the trailer service and repairs cost. Everything from tires and brakes to electrcal problems and annual ispections is the responsibility of the owner. A good friend of mine bought a 3 year old trailer about 5 years ago. His now 8 year old trailer has cost him so much that he's put off buying a new tractor for the past 2 years. In the video, you mentioned how rusty some of the trailers were. The rust on the "Mansfield bar" was only the beginning. Trailers get beat up fast!

In my opinion it’s all the RUclipsrs rebuilding cars. This has made more people interested and they are over biding. And I’d go after that gmc serria. Suit up and clean it.

I know you have no interest in the older trucks but want to put a challenge out. Do an 80's or 90's truck that is exclusively none DEF, non-computer operated. Let's just say old school. Just something old enough in the Ural 6x6 Urals of the 90s. Do a truck when your dad was your age.
On 16:38 the reason the cab in the front is small. Well when your driving when the cab in the front is smaller its easier for you to grab something from the passenger side and another reason why people by Kens and petes and the reason people dont by volvo as much is because parts are more expensive and people love classic theirs nothing like a 389 with a C15 cat in it and for your information that kenworth you looked at a T660 it has a variant on the sleeper and its called the studio sleeper which is one of the biggest sleepers stock sorry if i seem rude.

That Sierra pick up, just gut the entire inside of It down to where the paint meets the metal, scrub and clean it with a strong cleaner, install a complete interior and "Wha-la"- a nice truck... sale it, drive it, do whatever.

Instead repalcing the rear end. I only cut half off, and remove the third row. Making my Van just look like a doublecab truck now..

In '90s on my home community they did find car what had in corpse, suicide. Middle of summer, had been there about 2-4 weeks... I think that car was totally biohazzard, not little blood :) Burn it with fire! Fast, when thinking how it will smell...

Rusty, I love your vids, man. I think the prices have gone up is because rebuilt cars are in demand. If I can find a nice salvage car that has new parts, low miles and saves me thousands of dollars, I'm in! Especially if it was rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing.

No, everybody dosn't go crazy over a Kenworth T660 you were pointing at. And yes, they don't look good. But if you meant a W900, then your completely right. A lot of people like those. But they definitely don't look like crap, that's for shure. Volvo's look like crap. So do Cascadias, and Prostars. Anything with a drop nose on it looks like crap. Trucks like that are merely work horses, and are not meant to look good.

I spontaniously remeber this from an old Swedish Volvo truck magasine i think it was named "ratten" (The steeringwheel) or something like that (the official Volvo news magazine), i used to read it on the local library when i was a little kid.
One of the engineers said something like this: "I hawe re desigend the new air intake so it now saves 7 centimeter wich we will use to increase the size of the cab, it was not realy nessesary thing to do one may think, but it means that You will hawe 7 centimeter wider bed to sleep on and that will make a tiny differense in Your comfort at no extra cost"

If you take it all apart you can clean off the blood properly. It just takes weeks of dealing with so many small pieces. Dried blood is pretty much paint when it's exposed to oxygen... HIV, Hepatitis, etc. the worst viruses die pretty much immediately when exposed to air.

Everyone buys KWs because they last. My fathers driven quiet a few Volvo’s and they’ve been nothing but Electrical and DEF issues. And the resale value stays up as well.
It has nothing to do with being a kw most have all the same motor trans.
Cummins Detroit Mercedes. Volvo has their own motors but injector
cup issues from day one. KW Pete have Paccar motor but beyond junk.

They are not semi's, they are highway tractors. Semi refers to the trailers they tow, as in semi trailers.

@@gghireal1 the semitrailer is a trailer having wheels at the back but supported at the front by a towing vehicle. Tractor -Truck designed primarily to pull a semitrailer by means of a fifth wheel mounted over the rear axle.

Rusty! @18:13 you are looking at the back of the propane refrigerator. MANY RV fires are as a result of a refrigerator overheating and what with the readily-available fuel in the form of propane.... Oh well, at least their beer was cold for a while. Excellent video, thank you for sharing!
