    You have made a video that actually makes a move/ push to reshape this education system that drastically needs to change

    • @VM-yd6zq
      @VM-yd6zq 2 года назад +2

      What needs to change are the parents. American parents expect to place their child in a group of 30 and expect the teacher to do all the teaching in about 5 hours for 5 days of week. They give no time to the skills their child needs to know, and instead teach them to be negative about the time they have to spend practicing a new skill.

    • @patriciajohnsonson8639

      @@VM-yd6zq Blame the parents…yes, some parents are negligent, but most people I know work full time, come home, cook, do,laundry, help their children with homework, get them ready and in bed, then crash. I know very few parents who don’t give the time to their children’s schoolwork. People actually hire tutors. There a several rotor co ponies all over the country. If parents weren’t trying to help their children, these companies wouldn’t be in existence. With the crazy new math, it is no wonder parents can’t help their children. We didn’t draw boxes to solve math problems. Stop blaming parents and accept that the public education system could be a lot better with some effort and ingenuity on the part of the administrators and teachers.

    What I loved about my daughter’s school in Germany was that she went to school for 2-3 hours. She came home for lunch. Afterward she had homework. We watched and learned German as she explained the work to us and taught us the words. We enjoyed working with her. When we had any trouble the neighbors would explain it as well. We did get a tutor, and paid her once a week. We learned to speak German as a family because the school was an accepting community. We even learned to sing and went to community sings. Education in America is all about the school, not the family because basically the family expects the school to do all the work! It is wonderful that this teacher loves her students because they aren’t experiencing much time at home!

    I’ve always thought this! I have never heard a good argument for the purpose of homework. If kids are devoting the majority of their days in a classroom, using all their brain power learning there is no justification to taking up time with their families at home. Studying of course is different then assigned tasks, but sending work that must be completed home with kids? Nah

    • @VM-yd6zq
      @VM-yd6zq 2 года назад

      As the NSTA has pointed out, project based learning is powerful but there has to be discussion that leads to resolution. This sometimes requires students to research outside of class. Projects take up a large amount of class time. Discussion takes another large piece of class time. If students take time to research outside of class a stronger understanding can take place.

      About the teachers, I think some teachers would go along with it. As, in the American education system currently, teachers work many hours more than in other developed countries but get paid less than in those other countries. Since this system has no homework and removes other things, makes teachers work closer to the amount of hours of other countries, so I think some teachers would come on board.
