Anime Expo sure has changed a lot in the past 20 years... more mainstream and more popular than ever. Crazy to see just how amazing cosplay has evolved & expensive it's become, more and more (conventional beautiful) people are cosplaying versus how cringe it was to be a cosplay back in the early 2000's & 2010's. It's clear to me that as Anime becomes bigger and bigger each year that everyone who was a closeted anime fan can finally embrace the culture that many thought was nerdy & lame in the beginning. I remember being made fun of for drawing anime, liking anime & being into it because during my early anime fan years it wasn't as popular as it was then. The struggle was real, the videos of fans acting weird (normal to them) didn't help & being accepted for being an anime fan back then was very challenging. Meeting someone who liked anime as much as one would was exciting & building a bond over something that brings joy to you was the best part of being an anime fan. I hope that it continues to improve and that although Anime Expo isn't the semi-small convention it once was many years ago, that new fans & current fans continue to love & support the media & community.
We must've had different experiences during that time. I'm guessing you were a minor back then? Makes sense you'd experience bullying for liking anime as a kid. I was an adult from 2000 onward. Anime cons and cosplaying were as huge then as they are now. From 2004-2013 were my cosplay years. Not a single person thought it was "cringe" back then. I met so many awesome anime fans just by cosplaying. AX grew by leaps during and after Hatsune Miku came to the US in 2011. After that, I started to lose interest in going because it got way too crowded. A lot like SDCC. I haven't been to an anime con in years. I miss it sometimes. I will agree that AX has changed A LOT over the last decade. I hardly recognize it anymore, lol.

That's great. Watching the video made me want to go to the expo too! I'm Japanese, but I'm at a level where I'm hesitating about going to LA in the U.S. just to go to the Anime Expo!
It's a lot of fun. Highly recommended. It's the biggest anime con in the US, so it can be overwhelming. People come from all over the world to be there. :) I can understand the hesitancy about going to LA, though. Just be sure to not walk around the city at night. Go with friends if possible. Get a hotel that's close to the convention center. Or, considering we have a subway system, you can find a hotel literally anywhere that's close to a Metro station and just take it back and forth to the con daily. I recommend somewhere near the red, purple, or gold line since they're closer to your destination. It's the only way I attend anything at the LACC. We have smaller anime conventions over here, too, if you're more comfortable with a smaller crowd. I'm a veteran con goer in the area, so if you need any tips or guidance, let me know. :)
OOooh i love how you edited this one!! Good mix of highlighting cosplays moving into showcasing aspects of the con!!! Man, AX vibes are just unlike anything else!! So many cool fandoms, cosplayers, activities!!!!! I think Ax might be one of the hardest cons to actually capture the vibes of because of just how much is going on. It's like, 5 different cons happening at once haha! But you did AS ALWAYS an amazing job capturing each aspect of it!!!! I'm also actually so impressed how many clean videos you managed to get of these cosplays knowing how crowded the con floor lobby can get at times hahah! ALSO YAAAAAAAAY your outro is baaack!! hahah glad to see you! And that end frame with the music ending and the ax logo popping up was SO GOOD LMAO I LOVED IT have so much fun at SDCC!! its such a great con- so many hidden things inside and outside the venue. Cant wait to see what you discover and film!!!

Banger video man! Fantastic coverage of one of the world's biggest cons. The cosplay is top notch along with the events, guests, parties, and ofc your style.
You definitely should! It is pricy, plus if you spend money on stuff but its a nice experience. I don't watch too much anime anymore but its always so fun, they seem fine improving too sihth the crowds!

I may never be able to join since it's so far from my country but I do appreciate to see all the cosplayers and the con as well (this aspect is most often forget in cosplay video) so really appreciate this part too !
