Something I've not yet heard programmer reviewers of the M2 / M2 Pro machines is how we have a solid use case for going with a beefier machine due to Parallels 18 recently achieving Microsoft authorization for running Windows 11 Pro for Arm on the new M2s. Parallels is literally supporting running both OS at the same time on an M2, thus a new realm of productivity for programmers on the two OSs has now opened up if you've got enough GPU / RAM / SSD speed to ensure no bottlenecks.
I love the way you hit the nail straight on the head from the 1st sec 🙌 I don't regret at all having chosen your video over MKBHD's about the same matter 😅
Loved the web browser examples.. this is EXACTLY what I need and I think some people don’t realise how many of us work almost exclusively in browsers nowadays… it’s HUGE performance gains for let’s say loading web applications, website builders etc… M1 was top already but the new m2 pro seems to be fantastic.. great stuff 😅
In real world usage you will probably notice the difference if you pay attention to it, but it wont make any difference in YOUR workflow/speed so it doesnt really matter. The thing which probably is an advantage... finally WiFi6E so on par with most windows machines in terms of WLAN speed/standards. Dont trust fanboys or paid reviewers too much, just said... the M2 (as well Pro and Max) are just slightly optimized M1s, probably a little bit more work on the de/encoders and GPU cores, but slight to NONE modifications on the (performance) cores.
Most informative review on the M2 I’ve seen! The real life scaling on Davinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro was very telling. I’m hoping it’ll be better with M2 Max over M1 Max as I’m looking to get it when it (presumably) comes out on Mac Studio.
I am seriously impressed by the quality of your video! By far the best one I have seen regarding the new M2 Pro. I'm so geeked to be getting mine tomorrow but fantastic job on this video. You just earned a like and subscribe from me!
It is refreshing to see someone so technically skilled yet able to explain things clearly and simply. That is the true measure of being knowledgeable- being able to explain complicated things simply. You’ve more than earned my sub!
Appreciate your opinion on the laptop not being over priced when you consider the quality of the screen. This is the exact dilemma I'm working through. I don't have a 4k monitor, so I'd have to purchase one, and it brings the cost up to the point where I'm considering just getting the laptop instead and then using my extra, 1080p screens for more space. But then at least I'll have the 4k screen when needed in a laptop as opposed to the Mac mini.
NEVER buy a Mac Mini. I would rather get a refurbished M1 Pro MacBook over a M2 Pro Mac Mini, M2 isnt that much better. Unless you "need" the 24GB Ram option or anything else M2 specific (WIfi6E, more GPU cores etc...) you are better off with a M1 (Pro) and hope for a good M3 or M4 chip in the future.
I’ve enjoyed my Mac Minis since 2005. I’ve had three of them so far. My M1 Mac Mini is the best one I’ve ever had. I’m not good at retiring old machines; my mid-2011 is STILL using a patched version of Monterey 12.4, LOL! My 2005-vintage Intel Mac Mini has been broken up for parts. However, one fine day, I will have to make that 2011 machine into a Linux box or something…😊
I love the fact you were able to have review at the same time as all the other creators! You will always be my first choice now :D! Your content is as amazing as ever, keep killing it Ella! 😄
The video render most likely doesn't rely on GPU (that's why Air renders almost the same as new M2 Pro), but media engines count - which Max has twice more I think. Having year to year +25-30% GPU performance (in apps that can and do use it) for the same price is great.
Thank you for another informative offering. I do think that comparisons between desktops as opposed to desktop vs laptop would be more beneficial. The use case for laptops and desktops are somewhat different, so for example I might suggest comparing the M2 mini vs the M1 mini to see if an upgrade is worth the money. Thank you again.

I'd like to call you out to substantiate a comment you made about single core performance on an application. As far as I know, pretty much all applications can take advantage of the multiple cores, and your statement implied that the application would only run on one core. If true, you should be able to demonstrate this by showing the workload on activity monitor. Personally, I think you are just wrong on this one. I believe MacOS would spread the workload around. But hey, prove me wrong. thanks
Yeah but having more core doesn’t speed up things such as filter application, so the speed of that task is primarily limited by the speed of one core. It doesn’t matter how many core is used by photoshop to perform supporting tasks if they all have to wait for the main thread to finish. I thought a 12 core being tied with a 8 core is clear demonstration of that.
These upgrades are for two very different types of people. Those who have such workloads that require an extra boost of performance and then those who are looking to upgrade their older generation computers. For everyone else, it's not worth upgrading every year.

Is it ok to run one monitor via USBC and one HDMI ?
These upgrades are for two very different types of people. Those who have such workloads that require an extra boost of performance and then those who are looking to upgrade their older generation computers. For everyone else, it's not worth upgrading every year.
Will this work if I have 2pcs 4k samsung monitor?
Does it have default wifi built in?
We love you
Sweet.
is there any buzz noise or coil whine noise from the m2 pro mac mini?
I have been WAITING for this to come out. Probs just gonna get the regular 256 GB maaaybe the 512GB. Idk if I missed this but does it take SD? Great video ella!!!
thank you!
what do you think of getting the new macbook bro 14 inch for comp sci?
I feel like a high spec m2 air would be enough in terms of performance, but the pro is larger and has a much better display.
@@CreatedbyEllaYT but wouldnt the lack of fans hinder my coding? like with testing and such?
Power wattage used ? I don’t necessarily need the power so would the M1 be better
M1 has a better design tbh vs the m2
