Awesome. You sold it mr. Lafontaine, gonna have to tie up a bunch of these. I have an old highschool friend just diagnosed with ALS which took Gary away from us. I sincerely hope he lived his life like Gary did 'chasing magic moments' so that he too can die in peace without regret of having been 'missing out'. Gary didn't miss out. If you haven't read Gary's last interview go and do it. It made me more confident in doing my own thing and ignore what society demands you to put value on. Maybe, just maybe it will steer you towards the real value in life, a little more direct, too.
This fly has crushed for me for 25 years. I remember first seeing it in a Umpqua 1500 best flies book in the 90's. This was one pattern that joined the 100 club for me(100 fish in a season). I found I caught as many fish with it below a nymph as fished in the surface. In nz I tied in a sand colour or light olive. Killer fly. Still is..
Outstanding tie, outstanding mustache
Gary is still one of my favorite tiers. Lost to us way too soon. Caught a lot of fish on his patterns.
THAT VIDEO IS GOLD!!!!
