Telling a river of lies without an ounce of remorse. Now that's Army recruiting.
A huge Coldstream Guard spun me the same yarns in about 1998
I’m still waiting for that free steak dinner the army recruiter promised me 15 years ago 😂
Well, Sir, on first sighting Sgt. Havercamp giving out drinks, I naturally gave the order to drink up. That's my style, Sir! The South Essex staggered up to the bar and engaged the ales. Major Lager panicked. So then I stumbled back in good order and knocked over a bar stool.
*This* is a report from the barman's cat that differs somewhat from your account, Private Fitzgerald.
The barmans cat is merely an alcoholic
Maaajor lagerrr, drank!! till ee was passed out sir! hyuh.. Assss y, you.. should ave done, if you had any ryoomm in your ssstomach! You got ome sirrr! hyuh.. you shamed us sir! Youuu will drrrink! *burrrp*
@@Reddeath111the barman's cat answered with one of his nine lives, sir!
favorite detail: the corporal at 4:14 dressed down to be a plant in the crowd at 0:30 (behind horatio), a common practice in the schtick for recruitment.
That’s interesting, I always just figured that they were reusing the actor because… well because it’s Sharpe.
@@Taylor-1911probably is
Seeing horses on grass? That's soildering
From chosen man to undercover man...
Just read all the books again after 10 years. We need a new sharpe series 😅
I just finished them myself. A great set of books!
Yeah the new ones were pretty good too he finally meets the little corporal @greenthousands
By god let the man have his survival. All other characters had to pay for Sharpe surviving being played by Sean Bean.
@@MIMALECKIPL He does seem to nearly die every episode too haha
Should have sean bean show up as a veteran officer and cameo in a episode
Joining up to become a soldier, now thats soldiering!
i always thought that the recruiter although not knowing its sharpe, knows that something is suspicious but honestly doesnt care cos money
He can tell he has served before, therefore he is likely a deserter and quite possibly wanted for other crimes as well.
Hey those quotas aren’t gonna fill themselves.
Knows he's a soldier, knows he's given a fake name, knows he's at the least down on his luck, but in the end ex-soldiers signing up again was pretty common, particularly with the wartime bounties Britain was offering during the Napoleonic Wars, so happily signed Sharpe up.
Sean Bean is about as old today as Norman Rossington (playing Sgt. Havercamp) was when they filmed this.
Rossington BTW was the only actor to work with both the Beatles and Elvis Presley!
Be a darl’n’ owd snoddies, and drop a like, else Sgt Havercamp will watch ‘ee
Horses grazing in their field.
Soldiering.
Even then, you had six days to change your mind
Sailors got a rum ration, but soldiers only got black tea, that's Napoleonic War military catering.
Now that's rationing!
I hope Sgt Havercamp is on water rates and not a water meter
, otherwise he' going to have a massive bill if he 'turns off the tap never'
Don’t worry Private it comes out of your pay
Capita should watch and learn how to recruit!
What does he mean by snoddie?
Soldier. - He knows that Sharpe and Harper have served before, hence "Old Snoddy
"
Army recruitment never really changes does it? From Ancient Rome to the modern day, the only real difference is the flag you sign up under.
More Paperwork now I guess. I was watching a video in India and they get retirement pension so good it’s takes up like half their yearly budget.
