Oh my god this is so precious. I have never seen anything this wild. The police officer had to prove that he is a police officer. Don seems unsure of himself.
I think there was a time in NY when citizens were encouraged to ask police to ID themselves due to many impostors posing as police officers in order to commit crimes.
This is the first episode which begins other than by someone saying the words "That Girl" and the first I can recall in which Ann tells Don she loves him, even if not in person.
Ann sure eats alot. Seems like every ep she is eating. Her phone is exactly like what my parents had when I was a teen, during 1974-1979...same color and rotary dial. Before 1974, they had a dull black bakelite rotary phone that felt like cast iron, it was heavy and kind of rough feeling. Typical style of the 1950s-early 1970s. The detective was cute.
Young people today would be shocked to know that until the mid-80s, it was illegal to own a telephone. Customers rented telephones from AT&T on a monthly basis. Those were very sturdy Western Electric phones that lasted and were essentially indestructible. When AT&T was broken up, everything changed.
Hal Buckley had an unusual death that was closed quickly. Determined as a heart attack but he had been shot in the chest but the bullet, per coroner, had nothing to do with his heart attack. No note, no gun found, mystery that was not investigated.

The look on Don’s face at 11:06 is priceless.
Yes,
that is love on the first sight.
Incredulous!!
Another great episode. Don is sounding a lot like Lou!

You missed it!
The detective reminds me of Jerry O'Connell. Handsome.
Before caller ID. The detective is so cute.

As an 80's teen, I recall rotary phones.

So, she gets harrassed by a stalker, and then, the cop sent to protect her lies to her and tries to get a date.
He didn't lie
He didn't lie
This could never take place a detective staying at your place from a phone call not today but it is so cute isn't it 🧑🎓☎️☎️☎️☎️

Its Morris the cat 😊
That detective looks kinda like Bill Bixby, in the face.
Where else, in the rear end?
The detective has the same hair-do as Noel Prince.
Same as Donald's. It was the style at the time. Don't know that I would call it a "hair-do." More like a hair style.
Awfully big gap between door and floor. Ann happens to have step ladder in her coat closet?
No lock or chain on her door.
The door has an old style center lock. It opens (or locks) with a key from the outside and can be locked or unlocked with the button on the inside.
That handsome detective had some nerve. Lying to Ann, and trying to steal her away from Donald. That was a no-go.
Love her clothes
I go with the Sargeant...
