Wilson Tong's snake style in "Snake in the Monkey's is great and of course i love Jackie Chan's snake and cat form when he beats up Cheng Li in the end fight. 😅❤
What if combined snake style with the iron palm. But I agree with you. You have to pretty much combine animal styles. One of my favorite kungfu styles is tai sheng pak war or monkey Kung fu
@@SifuKuttel That's great to know! Snake Kung Fu is an excellent style. Could you create a video demonstrating all the pressure points where the snake fist is aimed?
my wing Chun is J.K.D. BABY!!! 30 plus years. combat tested many times. A bit of everything ..that works for me... I'm more j.chan style. Outside the box.
Kung Fu movie fanatic here. When I saw Fung Hark-On in the movie Ip Man 2 , I suspected he was using the 8 diagram style and 8 diagram had to be connected to Snake style based on the way he was twisting into a coil and springing. Plus I saw him Snake boxing against Wilson Tong in that one Kung Fu flic years ago (a very fun scene). Much elevation to you Sifu Kuttel.
Wing chun has a lot of influence from snake style techniques too, but stripped back to the basic ideas or positions rather than preserving the snake-like "flavour" or performance aspect.
Snake style Wing Chun is something else. Check it out on Kungfu-Wise-Wing Cheun with Kleber Battaglia on Southern Chines Martial Art. While Hsing Yi snake is the ultimate in the animal form.
Mostly good info. But, to clarify, you're saying Snake does not function as a standalone system just because CLF's specific version of Snake is not a complete system? That shouldn't be used to generalize all Snake kung fu.
It must have been my explanation. I meant to use the snake form in CLF as a specific example, but I'm not limiting my opinion to just this art. Snake techniques are good, but there are limits in available techniques and utilities. I'm not suggesting you can't use it to fight, but you shouldn't chop your arms and legs off to be a snake.
@SifuKuttel I agree that the combined animal styles like CLF, Hung Gar, Xingyi, etc don't function at full capacity if they only use one of their animals. But Snake systems do exist that are not just pieces of a whole, and they have a full breadth of techniques and tactics without needing supplementation. I just think this particular video should clarify that you're referring to CLF Snake specifically, rather than all "Snake kung fu" as a whole.
@@SifuKuttel So, by the same logic is Wing Chun incomplete because it only has Snake and Crane but lacks the remaining 3 classical animals? Are the Southern Dragon, Tiger Claw, or the various Mantis styles all likewise incomplete because they have only a single animal each?
Actually, I should rephrase that and say “for now.” I am not adverse to some grassroots effort to create a well-rounded snake style. Though that would be a challenging feat, as it would have to stand up against many established arts and techniques that we see today. It just can’t get by expecting opponents to be inexperienced and throwing haymakers. The other big challenge would be acceptance as a “traditional” style amongst other kung fu styles, and that can be even more tricky than figuring out how to fight like a snake.
Oh and by the way, I will be incorporating whatever I deem useful from your lessons here. Most will not be ready for this _____ here! Strike like a scorpion's tail, uh I mean snake bite. Come to think of it, I did get bit by a Gardener snake when I was a teenager. Picked it up by the tail instead of behind the head, like my father use to. 🏥 💉 👍

Nice refresher.
Great video Sifu. Make similar videos for other animal styles.
@@asifaxis Thanks, I will get through the others in due time. This year in particular is going to have a big focus on Snake kung fu 🐍🫸🤛

an excellent overview. i believe that the snake influence in Choy li fut was from Choy gar
Wow, seen in Kung Fu Films, but not for real. Thank you for this overview.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I'm not convinced the animal forms are practical in a real fight, BUT I enjoyed learning about Snake as I did not know much about it

Please make a Video about Leopard of choy Lee fut
Leopard was the first Animal form I learned, it has a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite forms in Choy Li Fut!!!
@SifuKuttel the animal for me that choy lee fut is famous for
Would you make an equally informative Video about the Leopard in the Future ?

No, I really do refer to all snake kung fu as a whole.
