I grew up watching variety shows like this with my family. You would get to see so many different artists in duets with each other it was "outasigght!!" Check out some of Cher's guests on her show. She teamed up with I believe Tina Turner. They were actually good friends. Thanks for this reaction. I loved seeing Tom and Stevie together. They sounded fantastic! ❤❤
Several many moments like this on tv when I was growing up. Variety shows were the real deal and we got to see All of our favorite celebs. singing dancing and in skits. Every night of the week there was a great show like this.....Sonny and Cher, Ed Sullivan, Dinah Shore, Tom Jones, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Perry Como, the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson......so much great tv in the evening. Kicked back and got entertained. Too bad that era is gone.

In an interview with the BBC. He once said (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he was inspired by black music and that he wanted to pay tribute to the artists that influenced him. He also mentioned that he faced some resistance from the US TV network ABC, who were unhappy with his support of black artists. I saw Stevie in concert in 2014. It was insane. He could still sing and play his ass off. Definitely a highlight of my life.
