we have a Z9 and we are wondering if we adjust the volume on a restritto to 1.5 ounces, would they add more grounds to keep the ratio of coffee to water the same or would it just be a regular espresso?
Hi Zach, Very good question! It will be the same as regular espresso. Machine does not adjust coffee dose based on volume of brew water. What you are looking to make is a double ristretto. When you make a double the machine will up the dose. Also use a fine grind and high strength setting.
Fatimah Fahmy Hi, Thanks for the question. Soy and almond should do well. In standard frothing tests we have seen differences in froth quality for non-dairy milks. Coconut is iffy for frothing and we’ve never had success frothing rice milk.
Not a silly question at all! It does make black coffee. It's a little different than drip as it uses the espresso process to make it. These are technically called a "long coffee".
I see the espresso is brewed in like 10 sec. how do we calibrate so it would do 25 seconds brew? And how to set ratio 1:1.5 to 1:2? We don't know how much beans are used.
Hi WK, Thanks for the question. Can't compare automatic machine extraction timing with that of semi-automatic espresso machines. If you're at the level of using brew ratios you should likely focus on semi-automatic machines. With those you can easily weigh your coffee dose and the finished espresso to tune a brew ratio. That said, Jura machines do have some of the largest coffee doses available ranging up to 16g per brew cycle. Most of their newer models use PEP brewing (Pulse Extraction Process) which slows down the extraction to a time closer to semi-auto. Jura's top of the line Giga 6 is capable of producing a double espresso using from 20-32g of coffee! Check it out here: www.wholelattelove.com/products/jura-giga-6 Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage well I have the Profitec Pro 700 at home. But the Jura F9 at the office. I want to calibrate my office's machine so it tastes as good as the machine could. Any tips? Not expecting it to make as good a cup as the Pro 700, but at least, I want to do the best it's designed to. Thanks in advance. :)
Sheesh . . . those machines have more bells and whistles than Harpo Marx, but do they make a decent espresso? Probably need to rob a bank to pay for them too. None of them look very "senor friendly" to me. What happened to Morgan - did she wake up with a zit on her nose and chose to stay off camera?
+Mike Servis These are top of the line machines which make a very nice espresso! As mentioned in the video, Jura machines are incredibly easy to operate. What's simpler than turning a dial to a picture of the drink you want and pushing a button?
Is the jura Giga 5 smart connect compatible with this machine?

thanks a lot! i watch all your videos, they're very informative!!
Hi, Thanks for the comment and you're welcome!
Can you use different milk in the Giga 5? Like almond, coconut or soy?

Whole Latte Love thanks so much for the response! Thought I wouldn’t get an answer because it’s an old video. I appreciate it.
Fatimah Fahmy you are welcome. We do our best to respond to all questions - even on older videos in a timely manner.
This may be a silly question but does this brew black coffee too, for those who may not want a latte?
