The actor playing Buggy is just endlessly entertaining, and it seems pretty clear that Buggy is going to keep popping up. This works, because even 1000 chapters later, he's still a relevant character despite not being much stronger.

I'm not a huge anime fan or even a live action adaptation fan, but the fact they kept the powers as goofy as they are in the anime is just top tier.

I was happy to see Chibi Buggy appear. I was actually a little sad we didn't get to see Chibi Buggy's adventure. Or that they didn't leave him till next season where he comes back and he tells his Chibistory and we see him meet Gaimon briefly.

The fact that Oda was very involved in the production means he likely gave the okay for this fight to be changed at all.

I know they already made a running gag about them calling out their finishing moves. I wish they emphasize it more in season 2, like being meta and making fun of it like maybe a enemy was alerted by Luffy screaming his move. Then Usopp would be like "Why do you keep screaming out your move? You just alerted the enemy!". But later on in the episode, Usopp did the same, he screamed his move, causing the enemy to dodge 😂
I think that would become too meta by then and it might break the illusion too much UNLESS they do it in a well timed comedic way, like they're meant to be sneaking round the back and Luffy has to punch a wall in and starts yelling before Usopp shushes him telling him to open the door quietly. And Luffy interprets that as staying quiet verbally and still making the biggest boom when smashing the wall in, rather than a silent break in.
I think people know this is a fantasy live action adaptation. And in this world some call out their finishing moves. Others don't. I like how it's divided like that in this world.
So, Zoro doesn't really believe in that philosophy this season but probs will call out his moves by season 2 and beyond getting his more powerful moves like Ashura I think as he gets stronger and Luffy will eventually be like 'see? I told you!' And Zoro scoffs and goes 'yeah, whatever.' Whilst smiling.
I think Zoro will call out the hindu and religious versions of his moves at best because his food based pun moves like Onigiri, sound silly to a western audience and even translated literally as 'demon slice or cut' just sounds weird to yell out each time.

The live action is surprisingly better than expected and they actually make Buggy look like an intimidate villain, my only complaint is that Buggy foot can not fly and must always be on the ground so he shouldn't be able to launch its at Zoro like that and he only immune to pierce and slash attack how can he took no damage when Luffy punched him, okay you can say maybe because he move that part to deflect the force of the attack but he still should be taking some damage and in the next scene we saw that Zoro can pierce his sword into Buggy body part which make no sense
Keep in mind, Devil Fruit users can also _vastly_ expand their proficiency with and understanding of their powers (which is in fact the main requirement to “awakening” said power like Luffy did with Gear 5)…
This might not be so much an “Adaptational Badass” thing with Buggy’s fruit so much as _this version_ of Buggy being a fair deal more practiced with his devil fruit than the Manga/Anime one. And the writers of said source material DID SAY that if Buggy applied himself efficiently and diligently, he’d be one of the strongest people on the planet.

Is it strange that the live action made Buggy's powers more terrifying than the anime? I mean, he can even split himself with impact damage.
Oda has said that the Chop-Chop Fruit is one of the strongest Devil Fruits, Buggy's just too much of a lazy braggart to utilize it properly.

Buggy is the best character of this show, I love his energy. He reminds me quite a bit of Hades from the Disney Hercules film, that fast talking wise-guy vibe where he sounds more like a shady businessman than a *villain*
Im kinda disappointed the fight wasn't outside like in the anime but i guess it makes sense that they didn't want the cgi to look bad in the light
They have the best Studios so far nothing of the VFX Looks Bad the digital Creatures looking Great the full CG Shots looking great the VFX,FX,Face replacements everything so far Looks fantastic but of course Nobody noticed it or appreciating it and they still have to handle the lighting in those shots
I actually liked more the fight being set in Buggy's circus, it passes the image of Buggy being a little competent
I preferred this. The outdoor setting in the anime was too random

I liked how Buggy looked like an actual demented clown, kind of scary. He was funny and silly still just like in the anime even though there were differences in settings and things that took place I enjoyed his intro, and him being in a circus tent as a sort of pirate clown ring master while having the innocent people chained to their seats as a forced audience. I kind of wish this was his voice actor in the dub version of one piece...no offense to whoever voices him now.

This fight actually looks better than I'd ever think it would . While I still have no plans to watch the live action version, it's nice for those who are that it's not as terrible looking as most anime adaptations tend to be. 👍
As someone who is watching the anime + reading the manga weekly, I can say that it's definetly worthy watching the live action series, they did a great job
I love the lovve action version. Highly recommended. I'm glad it exists, because now newer audiences who have never seen one piece have a new version to watch that is faithful to the source material.

As an avid one piece fan who is currently entering act 3 of wano arc...this fight scene is just as fun and wacky as the original (original always comes first mind you), but damn this series is so much fun.

I love how they cast the actors based off the nationalities Oda gave them in the SBS pages
As awesome as the effect of Buggy's limbs splitting is and I must say, it's kind of better done than Luffy's stretching ability. Sorry it is... and that's likely cos they had to stretch the budget for it over the series (pun not intended), compared to Buggy who got less screen time using his abilities, therefore the budget on buggy got to have the special effects done really well.
I got to say that I kind of miss the fact where they realise that Buggy's feet cannot leave the ground and that he has a radius to his feet on which he can seperate his body from.
It's really hard to tell from the body parts, but it looks like his feet are flying too maybe? So, I'm not sure if his fruit has the same limits in this world or not.
Also, come on! The crotch shot was amazing in the original. Maybe could've used Nami for it this time.
I just think it works better because those small pieces of cgi blends better into the scenes. That, it being smaller and has faster interaction in the environment. And don't forget buggy's scene are usually very dark. Luffy has more moments in the sunlight and many other scenes with different lighting. At some point, being the rubber elastic boy just doesn't look realistic on screen. Especially that scene where he blew up as a balloon to bounce back the canon? Yeah. Rubber skin looks uncanny.
