If you want more authentic experience drive out of SJ to Guavate try arroz con gandules and roasted pork (lechón asado). There's more than 15 thousand cops in the island, down from more than 21 thousand that we used to have but still more than just a few cops. We do have a high murder rate but it's down 33% this year. The mainstream media coverage was for the two shootings that occurred midday in the beginning of the year but even then the statistics were showing less murders. The FBI estimates that 70% of murders in Puerto Rico are related to drug trafficking.

      @@Christine1025 I'm looking for good references about how many police officers we have. I can only say for sure we have around 12,000 state police but municipal police is harder to find out. It is true we have way less than what we used to have and it's mainly because mainland police departments love recruiting cops from Puerto Rico and obviously we can't compete with the salaries from the mainland and the police academy was closed for multiple years but recently they announced it will open again and about 1000 people applied for the first class of 200 new officers.

    Puerto Rico has all kind of food and is good that is featured in this video so people has an idea that there are a lot of choices, however, it would have been nice to show their tipical awesome puertorrican food. A lot of people likes to see or learn about typical puertorrican food, restaurants and prices, being that is so different from Mexican food as is what, in general american people think it taste when they hear about puertorrican food. I know you could find some of it in the States but it doesn't taste the same. I don't think I would have been able to resist trying the traditional Italian food, if I am in Italy, or any country consequently and I have a lot of food restrictions. Is just part of the learning experience.

      @@mckaylabee4589 Hey McKayla, thank you for responding. I'm from Puerto Rico, so I know my way around. And is nice that you added information about typical puertorrican food in the description box, ( I trust you, I haven'tcheck). I don't think you made a reference of typical puertorrican food in the video, thou. I think you only mentioned the places you ate in your video and if people were interested at the places you ate to look at the description box below. Not typical food in PR. By the comments in these video, there are a great amount of dissatisfaction as typical Puertorrican food is huge in PR as a tourist attraction. It has a lot of history from people that came from all over the world from "Conquistador" time. Although, people asume as common sence puertorrican food has African, Taino and Spaniards influences; the are many others; such as Irish, French, German, Jewish, etc. reflected in the extensive dishes from their culinary cuisine. Including, the Taino trades before colonization, leads the creation of of dishes that we enjoy today. People like to share legends that are part of the history and the idiosyncrasy of a culture. I get that not many people are adventurous or are free to get out of their diet and San Juan offers a limited amount of dishes of an american version ( confort food) of what puertorrican food is as is a tourist area. I encourage you, the next time you may go to PR, research more into the puertorrican cuisine to look for the healthy choices that were part of their daily meals. Do you know there is a town in the middle of the Island where people get to live over 100 years old without any major disease? It is attributed to their diet and clean air.

    • @gracer7943
      @gracer7943 5 лет назад

      @@mckaylabee4589 The town of Jayuya. Some organization from the Main land started a study around 20 years ago trying to discover what was the cause of it. I don't know what happened with that study. Their citizens believed as I mentioned before that it could have been their diet and clean air. They used to eat more root vegetables, salads and fruits. The town is near to another rain forest where their winters temperature could reach close to 35 degrees farenheit. They grow their own coffee and tomatoes. The the town is known as the Tomato town. They hold a Tomato festival with all their great amount of tomatoes recipes. I personally love their Tomatoes marmalade hot over vanilla icecream. Delish!
      Note: Do not confuse this Tomato festival with the one in Spain. There is no parade and no tomato is thrown at anyone.

    Stuffed Avocado looks like delicious Yucatecan/Mexican food. Please realize that is NOT Puerto Rican. The chapel and tacos are not Puerto Rican either. Puerto Ricans don't eat corn or flour tortillas commonly in every meal. The food in Puerto Rico doesn't have much similarity with a lot of Mexican cuisine. It bothers me that Americans expect Mexican food in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Please realize that even in Mexico there is a lot of regional variation. I would not expect British food in the USA. Just because a nation speaks Spanish doesn't mean they eat tacos. I really don't like this young woman in the videos attitude. She is boring and not very intelligent. I am sorry she sounds terrible.

      It rains a lot in December, but is still hot in San Juan. Is at least 10 degrees less in the mountains, outside San Juan and colder in towns near the center of the Island, however, no beaches there, but nice rivers with clear cold waters. Quite windy in San Juan or everywhere there is a beach. Their beaches are a little dirty in December because it cleans itself from the ocean garbage in the winter. If you go a "balnneario". It might have been cleaned before they open it to the public.

Also if you are doing a video on favorite restaurants or are trying to show people restaurants to visit during their stay, actually list them and try them, also try to add Puerto Rican cuisine. As a lot of people actually go for the cuisine, not for your taste in food.This was kinda clickbaity, and I didn’t learn much about places to eat in San Juan, that I haven’t visited before.
