If there's self driving cars then their should be no more auto insurance or limited insurance for natural disasters....the car manufacturers should pay for safety insurance.
Designate and maintain exclusive lanes. We do this for bicycles and joggers in Europe. Once the "market" is "built"...the products will come to market. Level 5 is here and ready to go. My 6 year old should be able to drive to school alone. Lets get this show on the road!
Even now with Tesla vehicles and their AutoPilot, which is not fully self-driving, there are complacent people driving and assuming that the car will avoid any dangers, so they don't pay attention all the time like they should.
Eventually there'll be level 6 autonomy. Level 5 essentially being everything a human can do, and level 6, an autonomous vehicle that can perform tasks/maneuvers that most humans can't (such as things that stunt drivers do, or the presidential Secret Service).
If that's true then it's a _very_ recent thing. Because Waymo are still lodging disengagement incidents, i.e. cases where the human driver had to take control to avoid the car doing something stupid. Although they're getting quite low.

Roads are social pathways used by humans that "understand" the relevant physics, psychology, and "morals". Much or even most of this "understanding" isn't done at a conscious level. Humans can usually tell what a pedestrian is trying to do, may want to do, and could try to do and well as the necessary reaction times for each of these. More importantly humans are able to know when completely ignore or pay close attention to the tremendous number of simoultaneous factors that exist the constantly changing environment of travel. Most of us have walked, ridden, pushed strollers, played football, thrown apple cores, managed dogs and children and babies, evolved through our life, and driven on streets. These "innate" abilities and understandings are pretty hard to encompass in a program. Roads are social.
People put so much faith in technology and assume it has unlimited potential. Self driving cars will never happen except in highly controlled and predictable environments. There is simply no way to program for all possible scenarios. And computers are dumb as bricks, same as they’ve always been, and as they will always be.
Partnership with highways, so called autopilot only activated there by signal sent by highways infrastructure. This may happens soon be disruptive and avoid people misusing the system in complex normal road conditions. Same with weather, highways mat activate and deactivate autopilot remotely accordingly.

Several decades before being able to travel wherever you want in a self driving car? Pff. I'd say a couple years.
Academics are just mad that companies are leading in this space.
@@josetheman239 That's and interesting suggestion.
Come back to this thread in 2 years, and tell me if we're still two years away, or four or six, from a car that can navigate these roads autonomously. No way. See you in a year or two.
1:45 Why did you blur out the Tesla logo on the steering wheel?
Ahmed Alhashmi copyright probably
@@cjwavy3929 what about the other footage with brand logos on them
I don’t know you tell me Tesla is a big company that’s probably why idk
Cause tesla is self driving already
@@efra.4579 Not yet
I will NEVER buy a car that has any automation
Old cars are the wave 🌊🌊
More reliable and last longer 💪🏻
Nah
@@user-lu6yg3vk9z New Internal Combustion engined cars are garbage, most of them are now designed as cash cows for the auto companies. E.G. they are filled with poor quality electronics and sensors, that fail often needing expensive repairs. They are all panicking due to Tesla but unfortunately they are not making their cars any better, instead they are ruining their future customer base by trying to nickle and dime the customer as much as they can.
Answer: if you have a self driving car all other people must have them too.
4:04 black ice, snow, debris, car accidents, hydroplanes, and animals crossing (squirrels, ducts, etc)
Self driving vehicles will be the most disruptive technology since the advent of the cell phone.
1:46 i like how he censored the tesla badge on the steering wheel and didn't censor it at 0:34
I didn't notice that, good eye.
This might be a good idea for People who are disabled besides Anyone in general to drive Nice Cars like these 👍
This sounds like an ad for Volvo, Buick, and Cadillac
why do they look like a blind person tried to make a car
How soon until every 7.8 Billion people will own a car
How soon until governments & it's people will stop being lobbied by car manufacturers when trains & metros are all that we need
so american... everyone else do not want a car anymore
Probably, 30-50 years
Til that business insider is bearish on Tesla and doesn't know that full self driving is coming later this year
I watched a thing by Waymo, which was saying that we were at Classification 4 (not 2-3).
If that's true then it's a _very_ recent thing. Because Waymo are still lodging disengagement incidents, i.e. cases where the human driver had to take control to avoid the car doing something stupid. Although they're getting quite low.
Very good and informative video.
Rebuilding our roads and traffic will speed up a lot. Without rebuilding these two things, fully self-driving car may not be possible even in the next generation.
Saying full autonomous cars are "several decades away" is not understanding the Law of Accelerating Returns at all... These PhDs should read Kurzweil.
Yeah I agree it'll take more than 10 years but I doubt that more than 15 will be necessary... I mean, the singularity is 25-30 years away, it definitely won't take longer than that
I wanna know when the USA will have an actual good public transportation system that doesn't require it's citezens to spend thousands of dollars on vehicles that creates more headache & than solutions
Mikey Guanipa The singing group Heart said it best, NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!
I don't know about everyone else but I would rather feel the car, drive it.
Being from it's unjust for me to watch why self driving hasn't taken up yet when my country's still 105th in hunger index.
Hot girl passes by
Literally every dude: 5:23
Not always. Let one pass every now and then.
Business insider: why don't we have self driving car yet ??
Tesla: literally am i a joke to you ?? Am known for this thing
Teslas are not fully autonomous.
PhD's & Analysts: It will take several decades, bla bla bla.
Elon: Hold my beer and watch my Tesla drive me to NY while I sleep.
@1:46 - got dayum!
Traffic Law is the major reason stopping this lol Old people don't want to Admit Machine driving better than they do
Even if I could afford a driverless car I wouldn’t want one. I love driving my car and I wouldn’t want a machine doing it.
Liam Walsh first of all you’re a child. The only cars you’ve driven were in GTA.
Second of all you have clearly never driven a Tesla.
unRage first of all I’m 16 and I live in the UK. also I have a license, I know how to drive. Second of all while I’ve never driven a Tesla, I have been inside one but I didn’t like it the interior. Also I own a Mercedes.
I hope that Tesla full self driving will be feature complete by the end of this year and hope that Tesla will have fully autonomous cars by the end of this year. I want a level 5 fully autonomous Tesla, so that I can sleep, text and talk on my phone, be at my destination and so that my friends and I can go to a bar and drink a couple alcoholic beverages and get drunk together and not have to worry about drunk driving, since the self driving car will be the designated driver and drive us home safely.
Ah yes, the height of civilization's technology just so you can safely go kill some brain cells.
Well it looks like this blows up Andrew Yang's campaign.
I don't think so. Self driving vehicles are already doing work. Besides, automation threatens more jobs than trucking.
Only if you buy into it. Waymo taxis exist already, and there are selfdriving vehicles on the road in other countries.
This video: This is why we don't have slef driving cars yet
Tesla: Am I a joke to you?
Driverless buses are already working in China now!
Their top speed is 15km/hr
Then: What would happen if trains were driven off-track?
Now: *Cars without steering wheels* Huh. Something about this concept seems familiar...
Trains still have two people controlling them: the Conductor and the Engineer. Hell planes fly themselves 90% of the time and we STILL have pilots. Don't get your hopes up for no manual control cars the government is going slam the hammer down on that idea
If a self driving car gets a ticket, who's going to traffic court?
hahaha i know right
Roads are social pathways used by humans that "understand" the relevant physics, psychology, and "morals".

Elon musk: Am i a joke to you?
Partnership with highways, so called autopilot only activated there by signal sent by highways infrastructure. This may happens soon be disruptive and avoid people misusing the system in complex normal road conditions. Same with weather, highways mat activate and deactivate autopilot remotely accordingly.
Tesla and Elon Musk: Are you challenging me?
I had to write a 3,000 word argumentative essay for university, was most likely the most fascinating thing I've done and easily rant about it for hours.
Main reason is the ethics, namely the trolley case (A train carriage is heading towards 2 paths, both having lives at stake, how will the AI decide on which life to protect).
Idea's that came up in the articles I read is that of moral worth such as crimes committed and achievements, or simply occupants or pedestrians.
Shame this wasn't covered...
Having a car with a computer is horrible enough. Automatic windows and doors is the most luxurious technologically-advanced thing I want.
I'm not going to be a part of some Black Mirror episode. Plus, I know how to drive, and it's not hard at all.
Well we never have to worry about getting these in South Carolina, every road is an unmarked mine field😂
I am skeptical about self-driving cars. They may get hacked.
Full autonomous cars would require "internet of things"
Andrew Yang brought me here
I can't believe you told people.
BI: No autopilot yet?!??!
Tesla: *Hold my bettery pack*
Driving one would be worse than letting drunk uncle Charley take the wheel, while you get a couple hours shut-eye.
