Wow devorah is a real inspiration. I absolutely love her attitude regarding treating her fans with respect, it's so refreshing. I've heard very different attitudes from other stars. Like the view on modest performing as well. Thank you
My darling girl. I am watching this first thing in the morning in the UK. It brings tears to my eyes as I am originally from SriLanka, although now a British citizen for over 40 years. I definitely want to share this with my now just becoming 16-17 year old grandkids half SriLankan and half English. You are such a wonderful role model for the young generation so please keep performing like the lovely role model you are in this secular world. And I am going to check your songs on RUclips. Bless you my darling girl xx
I very much enjoyed this clip. I grew up in the secular world and had a music career in Hollywood. It was actually in Hollywood that I was introduced to Orthodox Judaism through a Chabad rabbi and rebbitzin. I performed all over the country dressed in a very "secular way" and in front of mixed audiences. I chose to go in a different direction. I chose to become more modest and more religious. I left a very lucrative song writing contract behind (everyone thought I was crazy!!!!), got married and raised a family. I have recently gone back to my music career and am loving writing songs of inspiration and performing for female audiences. The time has definitely come for the talented women to step forward and inspire the generations!!!!!! Kol Hakavod!!!!
Deborah, I have to say your singing is inspiring to me. Maybe once or twice I got sad from a song you sang but I don’t at lol find your singing sad. Just the opposite the reason I listen to you is because you inspire me. You are authentic with your singing. U connect with the songs in such an uplifting hopeful way. Even when you sang the bonei olam song I was sooooo inspired. It wasn’t depressing it was sad but hopeful and inspiring. But some people who had a hard time figuring that out can think it’s depressing because it is bonei olam. And you’re singing for them so it’s painful. I’m trying to just tell you how I personally feel. I absolutely love your hashkafa towards modesty and how you view yourself as role model for our daughters and your filling a very big void. Keep being yourself. Your intuitive. And keep doing positive things to bring out the good in others by being a role model it’s nit easy what your doing.
So right! I don't want them (the children) to be anything...that is - let them be who they are. Also thank you for sharing about your phase of needing attention and how that affected your modesty. That strengthens me.
Well done!! Very well spoken. Parenthetically, there are several orthodox female singers who have pursued medical careers. So musicality and medical interest is a more common combination than one might think:)
Music is my “companion”…I really enjoyed this podcast! Kol Hakavod to U Deborah for staying true to yourself!NO YIDDISHKEIT COMPROMISES……👏👏👏👏👏U should go michayil lechayil!
