That story ended up being surprisingly deep. How often do people trap themselves in their childish delusions, even in adulthood?
Let alone lie to themselves about leaving and moving on only to be stuck in a loop?

@@DJVirgoNeun1 "lie to themselves about leaving" in this movie, it's "trying to leave, but failed"
@@sheepketchup9059 Not sure if you're mocking me by quoting me, but yeah I agree
A lot of people who have extreme childhood trauma do these kinds of things or they become something called a “little” which is where when they are under stress or scared they slip into a child like state that mimics the childhood they never got to have. They can be as little as a baby or a 5 year old,it really just depends on the person. And just like a baby or child they need someone to take care of them.
That was genuinely scary.
Do they get groceries delivered, or how do they keep the place stocked if nobody can leave?
They likely do get out, just as different people in their head. Sometimes their a doctor, other times a conductor, maybe a homeless man.

With the focus on drugs and tripping I’d bet the girls played the game as a joke as teens and took acid or some drug that permanently fucked them up.
It is actually possible and some poor people end up living their whole life stuck in a bad trip… it’s pretty horrifying.
Bro I need that kind of acid tbh
What? What is a permanent bad trip?
What movie is this
I think you're enhancing the truth a bit.
Yes, you can re-experience the effects of the "trip" days, weeks, or even years after use, but I think what you're referring to is HPPD or hallucinogen persisting perception disorder. It's not being stuck in a bad trip, it's sometimes a good or bad trip "flashback", but more often persistent VISUAL effects, like halos around objects, distorted sizes or colors, bright lights that won’t fade, you are otherwise quite aware of "normalcy". Careful precautions in the setting, surroundings and timing can go a long way to greatly reduce the possibility of getting HPPD.
It's frequency of occurrence is not known and probably wont be until more research is allowed into the use of psychedelics, which btw have some (limited) proof of being very effective in the mitigation and control of server, long term mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety and PTSD.
This class of drug was initially developed for that purpose, it was only after Pres Nixon introduced his "wart on drugs" so that he could stop the "hippies" and young people protesting about the Vietnam War that it was "outlawed". The Native "first nations: in nearly every continent have used hallucinogens for millenia, with little problems.
I'm currently trying Psilocybin mushrooms with the support of my psychologist, GP and a Psychiatrist, after30 years of "mainstream" medication, including Electro convulsive therapy (ECT) failed. But closed mindedness of some governments is forcing desperate people to go "underground" searching for supply and answers on how to go about it, there's so much bad information around that causes problems. If they allowed more research, trials, and clinically supervised use things would be much safer.
Sadly, the legal system in my location sees psilocybin as a schedule 9 drug (most controlled) despite there being NO locally recorded incidences of self harm, or harm to others due to it's use. Although one idiot fell in a fire while "tripping" but that was most likely to simultaneous alcohol consumption. And there was a South American guy who thought you had to inject it, so mainlined a mycelium culture... wasn't the psilocybin that killed him though, as mainlining any mycelium culture isn't good for your health. And you can't blame the drug for that Darwin award.
Alcohol has more problems for society, you don't beat your spouse after a magic mushroom trip, it has the opposite effect. But alcohol....
Much more common is side effects caused by badly manufactured synthetic drugs (LSD, MDMA, Ketamine), or in the case of psilocybin mushrooms, taking the wrong mushroom by mistake (many poisonous mushrooms look very similar to psilocybin mushrooms) or an event called "wood lovers paralysis", a kind of mild (and so far non lethal) paralysis that can rarely manifest itself after consuming mushrooms that grow on wood substrate.
@@Ambyycious someone below actually left a great comment explaining most of it. It's pretty horrible and absolutely real, it's not like being in wonderland forever, more like being trapped in a living hell with constant paranoia, fear, reduced mental capacity, hallucinations and more in the worst cases.
My friends family actually owns an ALF chain, ALF is assisted living facility, they're basically homes and apartments where people with disabilities can live somewhat independent lives, ranging from minor disabilities who need help shopping or physical tasks like bathing or dressing, or serious cases that require 24/7 care. Everything from a single daily visit to check on them, to full medical and physical support and emotional support as well.
I actually met a guy who experienced a bad trip that fucked him up for life and he has severe night terrors and sleep paralysis often, narcolepsy leading to daytime sleep terrors with his eyes open just randomly during whatever he’s doing, auditory hallucinations, and random losses of mental and physical control like dribbling in his pants or dropping stuff randomly. It’s really sad and messed up, especially since he only did acid twice after a highschool gf pressured him into it.
Drugs can seriously fuck you up if you don’t know where they came from, who messed with it and how.. there is a girl who went to the doctors thinking she had a severe flu and felt like she was dying (way before Covid) and the doctors asked if she does drugs… she said only weed once or twice a week.. turns out the drug dealer was lacing the weed with heroin and she was addicted to heroin and didn’t know until she went out of town and stopped smoking his weed! How nuts is that?!? But apparently it happens… every day to loads of people.
Just say no kids! Haha
I really feel like the “mansion” is a insane asylum. It would explain the “lifestyle” their living. Also that this is technically one person and everything is made up . She probably can never leave voluntarily
yeah that would explain how they get groceries/food
That explains so much no wonder how they got food, clean clothes and necessities
I mean technically he doesn't have to leave he's already in the property and hears voices coming from upstairs. On those grounds he has reasonable suspicious to search the building.
Yeah but he's not real anyway xD
the thing is even when he have a reasonable excuse.he still need the warrant.cuz, daphene have the right of 'defense of property'.well like what we know,he not real anyway
@@PRMAOfficial no he doesn't. He's already legally entered the building he suspects her of kidnapping the two women. She tells him she's alone and he hears nosies upstairs its his duty as a officer to secure the house as it could be a break in thus its a potential crime in progress so a warrant isn't necessary. And yeah I'm aware it's not real.
@@chunchunmaru123 lol no it's not sick of you 8diots nor knowing law and letting enforcement walk over you cops can't do anything unless they. see it hearing something doesn't give them the right to search anything
@@thewildcardperson lol they actually can though they've already entered the building under legal means. And yes you are correct that they can't open any drawers, cupboards etc. If someone claims to he alone and a noise is heard upstairs or somewhere else they have a duty to investigate it. As you have said there's nobody home so a noise could ne a intruder forcing you to say your alone. So yes they have every right to search especially if they hear screaming. Secondly you can't even produce a coherent sentence yet we are the stupid ones 🙄
Remember, as Giorno says "Don't do drugs."
Truly a golden advice. Thank you Justin, very cool!
And always have a dream!

Indeed

7:20 Not how search warrants work but sure for the plots sake. Search warrants are only needed if otherwise unprompted. If you arrive & they let you into the house & then you hear probable cause for concern you are then free to search the house. Also works if you're outside the house & hear something suspicious like a scream.
well they were pretending to be the detective, so they probably wouldn’t know that or care very much lmao
Dude you didn’t watch the entire video did you? Not too bright.
I mean…the detective was never real at that point, just another character they made up. So even if he did search the house nothing would really happen

Seems to me the movie is just another ghost story with the characters reliving the same events over and over, killing themselves each time only to come back and do it all again. They actually only killed themselves the first time.
Yeah, it's believed when you die, your brain keeps replaying lifelong experiences as you lose consciousness, almost like dreaming, and with the drugs they took, I'd say they went through that but in a lightspeed, frying their brains as they recapped their entire life in a second

The comment section: What a deep and psychologically complex movie.
Me: Who's paying the electricity, water, gas, food and anything else you need in daily life? The whole premise is only possible if they're being taken care of by an external party. People can't escape reality for long if they don't have enough food on the table.

@@doublesalopetoimcre That's a real shame. I watched a French black & white film noir last Tuesday. It was better than most suspense films I've watched in the past four years.
Fun fact: the blonde actress portraying Petula (the “doctor”) is Imogen Waterhouse, who is the sister of actress Suki Waterhouse. They look very similar too. For some reason I always got Suki Waterhouse and Imogen Poots mixed up a lot so it’s funny that Suki’s sister is also named Imogen.

I think it must have been something in the water in their town. It's a troubling premise but the chances of all three of them losing touch with reality like that is unlikely unless something affected all three of them.
