Hi, I to drew the second cow hunt for this year and was drawn to hunt unit 4. I live in central FL and only have hunted deer and hog. Some questions would be; what unit were you hunting, what size rifle were you using and would you suggest a guide? I am 63 years old, if I kill one, getting it out would be a feat in itself. do you have any suggestions? Thanks
I was in Unit 2. I think having a guide would be awesome. I was drawn to hunt a pretty large tract of land so I went the DIY route but a lot of folks really appreciate the help a guide is able to provide. We were fortunate to get a shot in an area where we didn’t have to pack the elk very far and had side by sides to help. But having a team of folks to help I think is a must. Hope that helps.
Yeah wasn’t anywhere near the elk on the first shot. It was 340 yards away and was dropping over a foot according to my ballistics chart. I aimed high on the next shot and it dropped right in for the perfect shot.
Just subbed when I hear you pray before hunting. Great job guys!
Moved here a year ago, I just may have to check into Elk season. Thanks KYAfield and those that got one.
This video was so cool. Congrats on your first elk!
Nice Job!
Didn't Michael Waddel do a similar hunt in Bell County in 09 or so?
You have to work to earn the elk.
It doesn't come easily.
Nice

Glad he didn’t hit the first one because that definitely was not the same elk. Congratulations
