In my opinion, James Gandolfini's Tony is the best single acting performance I've ever seen. He simply _was_ that character. An absolutely stellar job in the greatest TV series I've personally witnessed. Just finished re-watching the entire run for the ninth time and loved every single minute of it all over again. Bravo to all involved, but extra special credit to the late, great Mr Gandolfini. It wouldn't have been the same without him. Legend.
Imagine being Michael and watching your dad die and then you have to play the same character he stellarly embodied in the most important role of his life. I feel a lot for that boy, but I believe he does have the markings of a varsity athlete.
Cantwait4sundaY I know. He spent time in prison and I think that is where he became interested in acting. He was given some of the best lines in the series.
Cissy2cute He (Sirico) was a _person of interest_ in the murder of Christa Helm back in the late 70's. I find this particular case very fascinating and have been researching it for a few years now.
Cant get my head around the fact he was 38 in Season 1. So much younger than most of "the crew" but he oozed authority and menace. One of the greatest performances ever.
Antonino Manfredi I am currently watching The Sopranos again, beginning from episode one ... and seeing James on screen as Tony Soprano, larger than life ... wow, it's still so hard to wrap my head around the fact that he is gone.

David Chase told a funny story about the episode where they were going to film Paulie Gualtieri's apartment. They couldn't figure out what it would look like. So they asked Tony Sirico if they could come over to the apartment he was in while they filmed. He said sure. They walked in and knew instantly that this was exactly what Paulie's apartment would look like... if you remember the episode, Sirico goes over to a rack of what looks like a dozen pair of outwardly identical white leather loafers, selects one, then puts it back and selects a 'different' pair. One of the greatest performances in television history. James was absolutely 99.9% Tony Soprano and made for the part. I can’t imagine anyone else. Superb casting.
