This Is So Amazing. Thank you for the step by step directions. You make it seem as if a woman without carpentry skills can do this, because of your directions and suggestions. That Is HOPE, you are sharing. Your kitchen Island Is Truly Impressive. Thank You
The average homeowner does not have those tools, or saw for all the cuts. She didn't show the tools outside the house (usually) setup, where all the cuts are being made. There was a cabinet? carpenter there, he was visible for a few seconds, showing that this is usually a two person job, or at least a helper, at various times.
Great idea. When we did the kitchen, I went entirely with base cabinets. I'm less than 5'tall. Big box, unpainted. I now have 22 drawers. Lol If it doesn't fit in what I have, I don't need it. Painted them safe green with dark countertops. Black hardware from Amazon.
This looks great? How is the island holding up? I am surprised that Ikea caninets hold up anything extra nailed on to them! Yours turned out so beautiful!
I love this! It looks great and it’s very close to what I’m trying to do except I’m going to be adding two 15 x 30 wall cabinets on the opposite side of the island. My question to you is did you have to anchor these cabinets to the tiled floor? If you did Can you please let me know how you did it? Thanks
Wow !! Just found your videos I wish you lived in London I need creative people so talented in my life well done love your taste by the way . Love it a fan Binge watching now lots of love from London in England 💞🙂
It is a quartz counter top. They just rest it on top and use a bit of silicone to 'glue' it down around the perimeter of the island. They don't even need to support the overhang when it is under 10 inches like that - although I would. Look up 'hidden island supports' for some great support ideas.
I know it’s a year later but my husband added 2 x 12 boards to the bottom of drawer cabinets to make my new countertops taller. It’s almost identical to her island. I believe Ethan Allen has a video showing how to raise the height for stock cabinets.
This is exactly what I have been wanting to do with my kitchen but didn't know how to cover unfinished sides of the cabinets, I didn't want drywall. There's plenty of space and the cabinets in the kitchen are simple white Shaker cabinets, so it will be easy to find similar ones. I want to replace the countertops, but I don't know what is best. I hate the old, dull soapstone ones that I have.
Excellent job.. Q: is this supposed to be a movable island or fixed. Believe many counties require at least a single surge protected socket if the island is fixed
Any big box store. A hint - if the cabinets have a face frame, then use a 1/2 spacer between the cabinets at the back end to match. That makes sure they are kept square to each other. She didn't do this, but it would make it easier to space them properly.
@@chaneltyler It should be secured. It is amazing how easily heavy objects will slide around when you lean on them. Especially a long length like that. Lean against one corner and it will spin with very little effort. Fact!
@@sharon94503 long ways from 300 pounds. Unless filled with cans and cookery. Even then, things slide EASILY on level floors. One spot raised on the floor and it will spin.
Cori & Vinny, discovered UR channel yesterday, & am in total awe! Vinny mentioned a rehabber (west coast, I think) who inspires him. I believe the name was something like: home trans visions(?). Pls help with correct name of channel/website. Vinny, thank you for your service & thank you to those who love you for their sacrifice & service of your absence.
When you buy a quartz island or counter top, they come in and measure everything and then cut it and polish the edges. They then deliver and install it. Nobody does it as a DIY project unless they are just reusing their existing counter top. All they do is use silicone on the top edges of the cabinet and then set the top on. The silicone will secure it. They can even set it first and then just silicone around the perimeter of the island top once the countertop is in place. It is just like caulking your corners, but use a clear silicone instead.
NO WAY! We can do this?? 🤯 I'll admit it never occurred to me. Holy crap! It looks phenomenal! It totally changed the entire room! 👏

I agree with you! It doesn't seem so intimidating. I think I'm going to talk to my husband about building our own Island.
what she is saying is, it looks like you don't have carpentry skills...lol

Great job and innovation - most common sense people would be capable of completing this project 👌🙏
That came out really good. Thanks for sharing.

This is awesome, my son and I added this wall to his kitchen. It really looks great. Thanks
This is Exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you so much for making this video!! It looks amazing
The most impressive thing here is that that side piece was cut that straight on a jigsaw. As a general contractor I must say bravo ma'am
Fun fact: Always buy extra floor tile and run power to your island before installation, you'll be glad that you did.
That costs heaps bruv!
OMG!! Great job!!! This looks like high quality professional work that would be quite costly if you hired out.
You make this look easy 👏🏽
This is awesome!!Just what I was looking for to create in my kitchen.
Beautiful work
Amazing!!!!! Great idea!!! I hope to do the same one day!

Love it :)
Heya! Lovely island! I was wondering how you fixed the counter top so that it stayed on the units?
Very nice
You could have easily made wine bottle storage at the ends of the cabinet extension. Would have been integrated with little added work.
Do you have a longer version that shows how you attached the countertop ?

Making coutertops for a blessing hallelujah 🙌 😁🤣
FYI, i believe the NEC requires you to have at least 1 outlet in there, so if you go to sell the place you may need to install one
You make this look soooo easy!! I want to get an island
Good job, though you wasted the sides space. A good storage I would have thought
This is beautiful. Any suggestions on making a similar island, but bar height? Thanks so much!

Hi there where did you get the drawer base cabinets? Very nice island!
Hi there
I like the video, but I would have liked it even more if you had shown how to install the counter top.
Excellent, just what I wanted to do for my island. 😊 What brand is your counter top? Thanks for this video.
Great video. Did you anchor the island to the floor?
Have you secured the whole island to the floor or is it free-floating?
Amazing

Hello 👋
May GOD continue to bless the work of your hands in JESUS name amen! This came out amazing‼✝️🙌🏼🙏🏼💯❤
I enjoyed viewing this video ! May I know how many inches you made the overhang ?
Not only did the island look good, so were the tone legs! Great job!
Can you show how to put together a peninsula with pull out drawers on one side and cabinets on the other side?
Very good
Excellent job..

Love your work. If you don't mind where do you get the cabinets?

Nice job, question: Have you secure the whole island to the floor or is it free floating?
With that large piece of Quartz countertop I think it's not moving! It's Florida, maybe in California I would worry because of earthquakes.

Hmmm, why didn't you use shiplap on the sides? Just curious. Thanks. Great Job!
How much did this project cost you?
Great job. Where did you purchase your cabinets?

@@EastCoastDIY27 what paint color did you use please for your island. Thanks
East coast cabinets and design wasn’t correct. You search for cabinets and nothing happens
Outs of all things I wish you would’ve showed how yall put the counter top on

What was total cost? I understand this vary by which cabinets, hardware and counter top are chosen.
What was the color of the cabinets, it looks like ones we bought, but we need more paint.
Awesome job!! What’s the total width of the countertop with the overhang??
In some areas code requires a electrical outlet on the island
Most important part is left out. How to install the Quartz countertop?
Are you making your own Quartz? No, didn't think so. The company that supplies the countertop installs it.
Nownonly sew your blog its great
Do you secure the cabnets to the floor?
I'd make a hidden handle on each drawer. I'd have two rows of the cabinets - would that look awful?
